| We had a scare last night and today with Magnum. He didn't go swimming yesterday so Erica just took him for a short walk. Last night he was hopping around on 3 legs. I was hoping that a good night's rest would help him and he would be back to normal this morning but that wasn't the case. He was still hopping around this morning. I called his surgeon this morning and talked to his tech. She said he thought I should get Magnum in to see my regular vet today. My regular vet couldn't see him today so I found another clinic nearby to take him to. The vet came outside to the van to look at him so I wouldn't have to drag him in. (He REALLY doesn't like the vet). He said he didn't feel a lot of swelling or anything that would indicate there is a big problem. If the screws were backing out or something like that he would expect to see more swelling and pain. He said we would see increasing lameness and he wouldn't use it at all. He did begin using it later in the day after I had given him some aspirin so the vet was encouraged by that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I don't think we'll go swimming the rest of the weekend and I'll call the surgeon's office back on Monday to see what he thinks. We may end up taking him to see his surgeon Thursday if he doesn't get better. We are 15 weeks post TPLO today and 7 weeks into our rehab as of yesterday. |
