![]() First, dreaming of being a vampire or some other scary creature of our show does NOT make one a crazy person. Although, in someone else's ears (read: a person not involved with the Buffyverse like us) can find it twisted and abnormal. But we know it's not. It's only normal to dream about things ur life is involved with. Nothing unsual. All of the ppl I know inside this networld, have had their share of ppl giving them hard time because of their interests. But the good thing is, that no one can see inside our heads. So if we are afraid our dreams are weird, we should remember that they are just dreams. Reflections from our brains and things its processing. It's only natural that the things we see and experience, get there somewhere. The method our head uses to pick things to be "used" in our dreams, really is one big mystery. Sometimes our dreams make sense (like "of course I dream of that, I have been stressing out so much that big exam"), and the other part of the time - which is most often if I'm asked - they don't make sense at all (which is like "what the heck does our neighbour's cat do in my dreams..?! ") Most of the time, dreams are illogical and very difficult to analyze. They carry a certain sense of meaning, but also a hellava big bunch of things that don't make sense, no matter in how many angles they are being tried to watch. So, what our dreams really mean? I don't know. And I think none of us really knows. Well, of course there is numerous and various sources of information for these questions to seek answers from, but this is just what I think. What I think is, that u can never know the whole truth behind ur dreams. And I kinda love it that way. No matter how hard u think...there still is that certain amount of mystery, that remains unsolved. Kind of reminds us, that there still is a lot we don't know about our existence on this earth. Like why are we here...who put us here in the first place...where does the space begin/end and so on.. Human beings look for answers to these questions pretty much the most of the time of their lives. They want to get through that fuzzy layer that separates us from the answers, we can't get. Dreams are a lot like that. But..dreams offer us a way to get in touch with our inner selves. Dreams are something so ancient, so old and so primeval...that they can tell us things we cannot know otherwise, but dreaming. Even cavepeople had dreams (though it has not been documented, heh, scientists believe it to be so). So dreaming has been here as long as us. Or even longer. Animals have dreams too. How about other life forms then? Like if there is life in the outer space, do they have dreams too like us? Is dreaming a common thing more species than ours do? These are big questions, I know, and really not the point in here...but still they make me wonder. What if the real meaning of dreams is to offer us a channel to receive information we cannot get otherwise? Like moving between dimensions, astral-projection etc. a.k.a the stuff all the scifi-movies are about. And a person CAN "move" themselves to another places in dream-state, like hypnosis. That could be called a dream-state, because the person is unconscious, when being hypnotised. Though being controlled by another person when in hypnosis, I still see similarities with that and a genuine sleep-state. Maybe dreaming is something us human beings haven't even started to understand yet. Maybe something even bigger is coming through them. Or maybe we will never quite find it out. I kind of wish we wouldn't never find out all about it. There should be a certain amount of mystery in life. Nowadays, when science tries to find an explanation to everything everywhere, there should be things that leave us wondering. Things, that give us something to think about, to dream about. To sing about, to paint or draw about. To make music about, to write stories about. Just about anything :) Life is a mystery and given to us like that. U don't "watch into gift-horse's mouth", so scientists shouldn't always try so hard to explain everything, but accept that everything cannot be explained. We should cherish the mystery of life. The mystery of dreams. They make our life beautiful. |
