Chief Engineering Officer and Chief Security Officer's Quarters.
Lieutenant Commander Peter Aspinall, Lieutenant Matthew Aspinall and Jackie Aspinall
The quarters of the Chief Engineer and Chief Security officer are quite large.
Originally two separate sets of quarters the dividing bulkhead has been removed to leave the couple with a very spacious living area.
Two sets of doors lead from the corridor in to the main living area which is one large open plan space, the centre space is occupied by a large sofa set which runs along underneath the windows and out in to the floor space in a large U shape, a smaller two cushion sofa caps the end of the U with space between the two sofa on either side, a low glass oval coffee table sits in the centre of this space and is often littered with pads and half drunk beverages. The sofas as with most of the soft furnishings in the main area including the dress curtains are a rich red wine colour, indeed the only soft furnishings not this colour are the carpet and scatter cushions which are a slightly darker shade of the pale beige walls.
The right side of the main area contains a modern functional kitchen of cherry wood and granite. This area also contains an 8 person dining table in the same wood.
The left hand side of this main area holds the desks of the family, two cherry wood desks with inlaid consoles and comfortable chairs sit near one wall where Peter and Mathew can both do any work they desire. Behind each desk appears to be relatively large paintings, one of the moors near Peter’s birth place and one a planetary view of New Las Vegas, neither however are what they seem and are in fact monitors connected to engineering and security respectively which are concealed with the picture images when not in use. It is around these desk that Peter’s Bat’leth, field sword and Vulcan liirpa are mounted. The third ‘desk’ is along the opposite wall under the window and is transparent aluminium, this is Jackie’s desk and there are often colouring books and crayons scattered across it and on the floor. The desk is low enough that she doesn’t use a seat but instead a comfy beanbag which she often drags around with her to sit on.
A number of toy chests sit near this last desk and a recent addition is the introduction of a playpen ready for the twins.
The main bedroom is entered near the kitchen and the off white walls conceal all the storage space, there are no windows in this room instead portrait pictures of the couples families are mounted around the room in black frames. In the bedroom the dominating feature is the black metal four poster bed with its off which drapes. The beds black and off white bedding is offset with the small amount of colour in the room, a few dark green cushions amidst the black and white. There is a bedside table on either side of the bed and here yet more photos rest, thankfully there is adequate floor space still for the hover chair Matthew has been obliged to use and his yoga matt sits against one wall left alone.
The bathroom connected to the main room holds a deep sunken bath large enough to fit two comfortably and has a second exit in to the other bedroom and this side of the quarters, it is here in the soft blues that the twins will sleep in the matching cribs.
The other side of the quarters houses another pair of bedrooms these each with separate and smaller bathrooms.
Jackie, who I quite proud she can sleep at the other side of the quarters to her daddies, has had her room decorated in pinks and whites and she sleeps in a four poster bed stretching out from the castle shaped storage covering one whole wall, a small tea party set sits in one corner with many dolls and cuddly toys sat in the small chairs.
The final bedroom is plan ad functional in soft blue greys and it was here that until recently Daisy slept however this room is now used by the nurses that look after Matthew when Peter is on duty and Daisy has moved back to her own quarters.
