Dang it all! The BRITGIRL that landed in Denver for a week's assignment wasn't a happy camper. I had missed blur for the fourth time in Washington D.C. just a few days earlier because of another assignment and was I peeved! Worked hard for 5 days or so and finally found some time to kick back, enjoy some caffeine and read the local events paper when suddenly the words BLUR popped out of the page. They were here, in Denver, and were going to be playing tonight and my work for the week was done and over with (PARTY!PARTY!) The caffeine high lead to a blur high and I ran back to the hotel, changed, hopped on a cab, got off at the Ogden Theater and got in line with the rest of the crowd. No one knew whether tickets were available, but I remained on line until whenever the line started moving and dashed over to the box office and did a little jig when I was told that there were tickets still available. Ticket in hand, walked in and immediately discovered that people were being coralled into the legal drinking age group and the teenybopper group on the first floor. Not being a ranch animal myself, I blew that Taco Stand known as the first floor and went to the balcony level, found a space on the first set of stairs smack dab in the middle and plopped myself down. "That Dog" were opening for blur, but I couldn't wait to see and hear blur (this being my first blur gig-finally!)
Suffice it to say, they were brilliant! I knew I was hooked for life. damon was busily fiddling with this instrument or that machine and was putting the infamous Mexican jumping bean to shame. They played songs from all 5 of their CDs and let us experience over 2 hours of their musically-induced state of nirvana. That was a night that I threw pen and paper aside and just threw myself into their musical embrace.
