Second in Command

New head coach Terry Hoeppner today named his Assistant Head Coach. Hoeppner told reporters that his coaching staff will be named up of coaches with winning traditions and some with ties to the Silver Dragons. In his first appointment, Hoeppner chose Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis as his second in command. "Marvin's ability to turn around the Bengals last season was a big factor in his selection", informed Hoeppner. "I am looking forward to the upcoming season, working with Terry and helping to return Hayashi to its glory days"

"If have already been informed of the major players in the CDFL such as Wallachia, Wilmington and North Coast and have seen the results of last season where teams such as Martins Ferry, Apex, Banzai and Steubenville put forth a good year, in some cases perhaps overachieving. Just in the few days since accepting this job with Terry, I have already begun to feel the history and tradition of this franchise. Of all the teams in the CDFL and those currently playing that are founding fathers, the Silver Dragons have been the longest running team in history. The Shakers were off during the 1992-93 season, as were the Neersters and Snails. There is no other team that comes close to the overall winning percentage of Hayashi. It is no wonder that all other teams wish to be like them. True Jackson and Wallachia are the only two time champions in the league, but that will all change soon. It is my goal to see that Terry and I assemble a staff that will lead the Silver Dragons to victory next season. Coach Rhodes did an excellent job coaching the Silver Dragons the past several years. His input is vital in helping us with our goals. One thing I would like to address is a comment that I read in transmittals from last season. Jerry Starlin of the Buckeye Beasts referred to Hayashi as a "paper champion". In winning the championship this season, Buckeye will definitely be one of our big targets. It will be hard to make comments like that when we win week in an week out."

Other coaching annoucements will follow in the days ahead. Coach Hoeppner is allowing me to assist in the interviewing process and I will be meeting with some of the candidates that he has meet with last week. The winning tradition of the Silver Dragons will be resurrected next season and for several seasons to come."
