Dragons SILVER DRAGONS NAME NEW COACH FOR 1999 - 2000 SEASON

Monday, June 21, 1999
For Immediate Release

HIRAM, GA - Hayashi Silver Dragons General Manager Mark Trollinger today announced the signing of new head coach Ray Rhodes to a 1-year contract.

Rhodes, who was fired December 28, 1998 by the Philadephia Eagles takes over for the retired Don Shula, the only coach in Hayashi history. Rhodes expressed his anticipation for the upcoming season and being a part of the team. "I am excited and honored to be a part of the great Hayashi tradition", Rhodes said at his press conference. "They have a fabled past. I have been a fan myself throughout their history. From the old days of the CDFL to the Georgia Football League to last years second place finish in the Evil Medical School League."

Trollinger was optimistic about his choice for coach. "Ray is a great acquisition for us. Someone we can reply upon to put together a good club. We have been close to the championship before, but I feel that Ray will help us accomplish that goal this year." Rhodes, a vetern of five Super Bowl victories during 18 years of NFL coaching experience feels that his approach will bring success to the team as well. Rhodes will begin getting down to business later this week and begin naming his coaching staff.

Dragons RHODES NAMES COACHING STAFF

Monday, June 28, 1999
For Immediate Release

HIRAM, GA- General Manager Mark Trollinger and new Head Coach Ray Rhodes held a press conference this afternoon to formally announce the coaching staff for the upcoming season.
"Mark did have some input on the decisions made, but for the most part, he left it up to me", Rhodes said. "The staff that I have hired has a lot of experience and I feel will dramatically improve our team. Many of them are first time NFL coaches, but have been involved as a former player or collegiate coach. I am really excited about the men were are bringing to Hayashi."

"Bud Foster will be my defensive coordinator and assistant head coach. Bud has been the defensive coordinator at Virgina Tech for the past few seasons, and when I think of Virginia Tech, I think Defense."

"Brian Billick is going to be our offensive coordinator. He has been the offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings until recently, and you know what kind of offense they have. We are planning on running a two running back, three wide receiver offense this season. The Silver Dragon two back attack should promote ball control which will give the defense more time to rest as well."

"The other coaches that I have hired are all first time NFL coaches, with the exception of "Mean" Joe Green at defensive line coach. He has several years of coaching experince with the Steelers, Dolphins and Cardinals."
"If I my, let me just name the other coaches and tell you that although they have no prior coaching experience, I feel that our players can feed on their previous football experience and learn a great deal. Running back coach will be Bo Jackson, former Heisman trophy winner. Bob Trumpy, former Bengal and NFL Broadcaster will be the wide receiver and tight end coach. Anthony Munoz, former Bengal and Hall of Famer will coach the offensive line. Our Quarteback coach will be former Super Bowl MVP and collegiate head coach, Doug Williams. The linebackers and corner backs will be coached by former cornerback, Harry Colon. Finally the special teams will be coached by Gerald "Ice Cube" McNeil, former Browns and Oilers player."

"This, as you can imagine, is a lifelong dream come true," Billick said during the announcement of his hiring. "This is something that I have aspired to be my whole life. It's in my blood."

Dragons NEW STAFF / LEAGUE INFO

Tuesday, July 20, 1999
For Immediate Release

HIRAM, GA - After almost a month without further progress, General Manager Mark Trollinger appeared in public today and made a few announcements.

"First, I would like to announce a few more hirings within our organization. This about rounds out my staff, although I am still attempting to fill one or two more positions. The first person I would like to mention is our new waterboy. Our players need to be sure they are taken care of and maintain proper fluid levels. When looking for a person to satisfy these needs, I needed someone with a lot of experience dispersing high quality H20. Therefore, Bobby Boucher was the hands down choice."

"Next, as you know, the season is gearing up, and thus far I have been available to the media. As the season draws closer, I will be less available and therefore needed a Vice President of Media Relations to meet with you and address your needs. Handling the media can be tough at times. From now on, the person addressing you will be none other than Albert Belle. He has agreed to join our team following the completion of the baseball season. Until then, I will be sending him press releases and he can contact you via phone.

Finally on the personnel front, we are starting to take auditions for the Dance Team. Do speerhead this movement, I have hired a long time favorite of mine, Mary Lou Retton. As you know, she is a former Olympic gold metalist, but she is also a motivational speaker. I feel that she will provide not only the dance team, but the entire Silver Dragon organization will the motivation and spirit we need to be successful."

Regarding the revamped CDFL league, I have recruited two new teams to join for the upcoming season. Both are from the University of Rio Grande. The first new team is managed by Jeremy Cole. The details have not been ironed out yet, but I am assuming his team will be the Northside Eagle, which is the name of his elementary school in Dallas, Georgia. The second new team is very exciting. Not only does it break the sexual barrier of the CDFL, but is sure to cause tremendous competition. My wife, Maggie Trollinger, has decided to form her own team called the Rio Grande Rioters. As you can imagine, two team owners in the same household will promote much excitement and competitiveness.
With these two teams, that leaves us just three shy of the ten team requirement, and we are still a full month from the beginning of the season. I am sure that we will recruit enough teams by then."
