Executive Summary

Not since the days of past Wars has the American way of life been under such strong evaluation.  In these times of uncertainty, and increasing patriotism, people are looking for avenues to better understand foreign cultures and alleviate xenophobia.  President Bush and Congress appropriated money to fund programs that spread American culture abroad and as a result the Detlef Schrempf Foundation was awarded a grant in August 2002 to perform basketball camps in the Philippines.  Due to the success of the camps in the Philippines, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation was again awarded a grant to conduct camps and outreach in Malaysia, specifically in Kuala Lumpur.  In the Fall of 2005 the Foundation will once again travel abroad to spread American culture through basketball.
