Bowling is Back!

According to Walter Kilbourne, lease negotiations for the vacant bowling alley are concluded, and guess who the new tenant is? A bowling alley! Seems that for undetermined reasons the landlord was not interested in renewing the prior bowling alley lease. Prospective tenants included, among others, a health club. No details on an opening date yet, but well keep you posted!

GARDENING TIP OF THE WEEK - FROM GARDENINGLAUNCHPAD.COM
Bulbs in the Lawn - There are a some bulbs that can be planted right in the lawn for spectacular displays in late winter and early spring. The bulbs will fade before the grass grows enough to require mowing. It takes a lot bulbs to make a good show, but luckily, these early spring bulbs are relatively inexpensive. Here are some bulbs that work well with this technique:
* squill
* snowdrop
* snowflake
* chionodoxa
* spring crocus
Large quantities of bulbs look great planted in groups of like colors (drifts) or a playful mix of colors and textures for a tapestry effect. If you're looking for a more formal display, draw out your design on the lawn with horticultural lime as a planting guide. It's best to use a single species rather than a mix of bulb types for a formal design.
