How Seravi and Dorothy became Friends

Chapter 4: The Friendship

Before long there were three raps on the door. "Hmm?" said Dorothy, she was still admiring the flower. Quickly she kept the flower inside her cupboard and opened the door. It was Mrs. Roselle. "It’s late and Seravi’s leaving. Why don’t you apologise to him before saying goodbye?" suggested Mrs. Roselle. "Yes Aunty Rosy, I will," said Dorothy, and she walked towards the playroom.

"Thank you Seravi, it’s beautiful," said Doris. "Don’t mention it," said Seravi. "Okay, I guess it’s time to go. I’ve delayed going back already. It was great fun playing with you Doris!" He walked towards the door, opened it, took one step out and stepped on Dorothy’s foot! "OUCH!" cried Dorothy. "OOPS, I’m very sorry Dorothy. I didn’t mean it. Honest, I had no idea you’d be here," said Seravi. "Okay, I believe you this time. I actually wanted to hit you, but decided against because it’ll only get me into trouble again. Anyway, I owe you an apology. So, I’m sorry Seravi for hitting you earlier…and you didn’t make me cry. I was wrong for hitting your head in the first place," said Dorothy. "You read my note?" asked Seravi. "Yes I did, thank you for the flower," answered Dorothy, and surprised to see Seravi smile. "Thank you Dorothy, for appreciating my gift. You’re the first person who has ever done so, I’m very glad," said Seravi. "Shall we be friends?" asked Seravi, extending his hand. "Friends," answered Dorothy, completing the handshake. At a distance, Mrs. Roselle watched and a smile appeared on her face.

"I’m afraid it’s time for me to head back to the castle already. I’ve had a great time here. Thank you Aunty Rosy, thank you Dorothy, thank you Doris," said Seravi. "It was our pleasure," said Mrs. Roselle. "Come back soon, the children will miss a playmate like you." "Thank you for the invitation, I’ll come again when I’m sent to deliver a message in this area. Will that be okay?" "That’ll be great Seravi, come again soon!" said Dorothy.

"Great! Well...goodbye for now, hope to see all of you again soon," said Seravi. "Goodbye Seravi," Mrs. Roselle. "Farewell, and I hope to see you soon!" said Dorothy. "Bye, bye I’ll miss you!" said Doris.

Back at the castle, Seravi was awaiting an audience with King Genus. Shortly after, it was his turn. "How was it Seravi?" said King Genus. King Genus’s voice boomed across the hallway, Seravi could hear his question before reaching the King’s throne. "Sir, the lord was not in," said Seravi, handing back the white envelope. "Not in…hmm…I didn’t know about that," said King Genus, thinking. "Oh yes, now I remember, I sent him to attend a meeting with the King of the Garden people about a new import source for vegetables. That must have slipped my mind. Now I’ll have to readdress this letter. I’ll send Lord Benedict to do the job then," "I hope I’m not being too nosy but what’s the letter for?" asked Seravi. "Oh…nothing much really. Just another errand I wanted to have my lords run for me. This one’s to go to Guru Guru Mountain in reply to a complain about the weather condition I’ve received about that part of our land. I’m confident that Lord Benedict is equally as competent. He will do the job for me," said King Genus. "So I see. By the way, where does Lord Benedict live?" asked Seravi. "Just next door to the lord you visited today," answered King Genus. "Thank you sir, I know where that is now," said Seravi. "Good, deliver this first thing tomorrow," instructed King Genus. "Yes sir," answered Seravi.

"This is great! Just great," said Seravi. "I’m going to see Dorothy again! I didn’t think my next visit would be this soon. Oh, I’m so happy!"

And so began the friendship Seravi and Dorothy. I'll leave you to imagine the rest...
