Genealogy Research I have been active in genealogy for twenty years. I highly recommend using internet sources for research but encourage everyone to DOUBLE-CHECK all data and sources. There are many mistakes and there is a lot of unproven, undocumented information, not only online, but in old genealogies as well. With that caveat: Click on the "favorite links" button to the left and look for the genealogy sites I use most. I am a member of the Alden Kindred; past member of CAR & DAR; a member of the New England Genealogic & Historic Society. Five Mayflower ancestors that I can prove. I volunteer as a genealogist helper for the Alden Kindred and also a lookup volunteer on the Washington County, Ohio GenWeb web site. The surnames I am researching are too numerous to mention here, but here is a short list of my most pressing brick walls: BEARDSLEY in Connecticut: Sarah BEARDSLEY also known as Sarah HALL, b. 10 Apr 1841 in either Cheshire, Middletown, or Haddam. Her brother was Hiram BEARDSLEY b. 1839 in Cheshire, New Haven Co. CT. They had two older half-sisters, names unknown. Hiram was raised by Samuel YALE of Meriden and Sarah by Calvin and Clarissa HALL of Middletown/Middlefield. WALDEN and NOWLIN in Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and parts west: Last known ancestors on this side were Elijah WALDEN and wife Martha NOWLIN. They married in Garrard Co. KY in 1800 then headed to Dearborn Co. IN about 1807/1808. Martha Nowlin was the daughter of James NOWLING of Garrard Co. KY, whose widow was Bethaniah. After Elijah Walden died, Martha remarried to Moses or Mosias NANCE of Floyd Co. Indiana. Who were Elijah's parents? What happened to Bethaniah Nowling? DARLING in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania & Wisconsin: Otis DARLING b. 1777 prob. in VT, possibly in NY. Fought in the war of 1812 for New York, res. in Vermont, Madison Co., NY, Susquehanna Co. PA, Rush Co. PA, and Tioga Co. NY. Who were his parents? Caleb and Sarah (Albee) Darling? I do have a lot of original research on Otis Darling's wives and children. LEDGERWOOD in Tennessee & Missouri: Rebecca LEDGERWOOD b. abt 1822 in TN or MO depending on the census (I think Missouri) -- prob. the daughter of John LEDGERWOOD and possibly a first wife named Phoebe PEEBLY or PEBLEY. His second wife was Matilda Jane GEORGE, dau. of Whitson GEORGE. Other researchers have Rebecca as a daughter of a Joseph LEDGERWOOD, a brother to John, but I have a probate record that points the other way. I have a ton of Ledgerwood information back to Virginia. BOWEN in Vermont & Missouri: Casey P. BOWEN b. 1818 in VT or PA, depending on the census. Most say VT. Researchers say his parents were Nehemiah Peter and Elizabeth (Gates) BOWEN. No proof at all and I'm looking for documentary proof. Res. Clay Co. MO; Wapello Co., IA; Holt Co. MO; Andrew Co. MO. No death dates or tombstones that I can find. Abraham DANIELS b. 1797 in NY, of Washington Co. Ohio. Looking for any descendants.
