The Emerald Buddha, Bangkok (Aug.10)

Best viewed in 1024x768 screen resolution size.

Me and Jurairat in a Tuk-Tuk, on the way to see the Grand Palace and The 'true' Emerald Buddha.

This shrine in the background is 3-4 stories high and completely covered in gold...yes bye.

These dudes are called: "Yaa" (?). He has 10 faces and 20 arms, and are the protectors of the Palace, King and Thailand in Thai legend.

Previous pictures of the 'Emerald Buddha' (Chiang Rai) (click here) I was allowed to take photographs of... but not here. This is the true Emerald Buddha's home. No pictures allowed of the actual Buddha (inside), but this is the outside wall, a work of art in itself.

Again, this is outside the Emerald Buddha's shrine, Grand Palace, Bangkok.
Me and Jurairat.

Outside Shrine of the true Emerald Buddha. This huge urn of holy water is for worshipers to bless themselves outside the shrine. This gentleman nearly had a shower. You take a flower, dip it into the water and tap your head or your friend's head with the water... sweeeet

More crazy artistic buildings and shrines... eit

...aaaand another with the "Yaa"... the protector of the Palace...

Teacher Jurairat at the Grand Palace.

On the walk to the Grand Palace...

  ahhhhhhhhhhhh UUge.

Crazy artwork found in every nook and cranny of every building in the place.

Jurairat showing me how to properly wear my bandana. ha. Looks better on her.

  Leaving the Grand Palace grounds.

On the way to a few museums we passed through a huge park/grounds (the center of Bangkok), where these dancers were on stage ganne cracked. Beaudy costumes.

At a beautiful Wat (temple) near the Palace, Jurairat wanted to salute/worship/pray to Buddha. The process took around 20 minutes, and there were many people there.

Ganesha - God of Arts

We then went to a Museum where one of the exibits was on "Ganesha", the Thai God of Arts - my fave... beaudy

Me and the true "Big G".

Elephant tree in the Topiary on the grounds of the museum.

Jurairat told me that this is: "Big Bird", the Thai messenger/God who carries women's souls to heaven. The Western reference to "Big Bird" I decided to leave out of the conversation at that moment in time...

This shot was a picture taken of an area behind part of the museum that almost no one sees... huge line of old cannons ammo included. :)
