Galatasaray Euroforum 2006

First and foremost, EUROFORUM is an intercollegiate simulation of the European Union, based on principles applied on other model conferences, essentially Model United Nations. University students, political party and NGO members from various countries act as political representatives to discuss the main issues concerning the international community, while respecting the procedures and guidelines applied throughout the proceedings of the actual simulated political bodies. The participants seek to protect the interests of the state or the organization which they represent.

In Model European Union, organs of European Union are simulated with respect to decision making procedures in the real framework of the Union. Since the goal of Euroforum is to demonstrate the original procedures to the participant, interaction between these bodies is one of the most important points. Since the Commission, the Council and the Parliament work together during the process of decision-making, each organ conducts elaborations taking resolutions into consideration that were voted and passed by another body.

Each participant is given an opportunity to act as one of the representatives of a member state or of a political party in accordance with their designated role within EU's framework and to debate the issues on the agenda of EU, which means an intensive process of acquisition of knowledge about the European Union procedures and Union's institutional character.
