Mrs. Smith's Second Grade Class
Thomas Merton Academy
About the Teacher

Hello
and welcome to my website. Thanks for stopping by to visit and meet
me. My name is Mrs. Smith and I have been teaching the Second Grade for 23
years here in the Archdiocese of Louisville. I enjoy working with the
students and seeing their excitement and interest in the learning process.
My goals are to create a learning environment where all students show respect
for God and others and to provide learning opportunities that offer quality
academic achievement. I believe that all children deserve respect. I
want the students to enjoy the learning process. I try to help the
students develop their own motivation for learning. My hobbies include
reading and exploring children's books, working on simple craft projects, and
learning about computers. There are so many excellent children's
authors. A few of my favorite authors are Bill Martin,Jr.,Eve Bunting,
Eric Carle, Jan Brett and Robert Munsch. One of my favorite quotes is
"Read with a child and share a moment of love". I
find the internet a very exciting and useful tool to use in learning about our
world. There are so many possibilities and interests to discover.
The internet helps tie us together in a way that we can communicate and learn
from one another. If you have any questions or comments please e-mail
me. I would love to hear from you. Thanks. I hope you enjoy the
site.

A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort
of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, . . . but the world may
be different because I was important in the life of a child." by:Kathy
