"The World's Brightest LED" flashlight page
IMPORTANT! These flashlights are NOT being sold as GBA add-on lights! They are keychain flashlights and are meant to be used as flashlights. The special features of these flashlights are: (1.)they use the "World's Brightest LED" (which is in my opinion the BEST LED to modify GBA external lights with), and (2.)they will cost only $8.00 shipped! Note: this is also the LED that I used in the Cyclops modification.
So to clarify: I am NOT offering these to people expecting them to "hold" it above the GBA while playing!(that would be absolutely crazy!)
These keychain flashlights will be sold with two possible uses in mind: A.Use it as flashlight --or-- B. Take the LED and batteries out of it, and use them to modify an existing GBA light.

The price
First, let me say "Thanks" to everyone who participated in the poll. I appreciate the feedback guys :) I decided to stop the poll before the original 100 vote mark that I had planned. The main reason is that predominantly the response was "positive".
The second reason is: the price that I'll be able to sell these lights for is even a little lower than I originally anticipated :)
I've searched high and low on the web these last couple of weeks trying to find sources for flashlights that used these "World's Brightest LEDs", and have found many, many "knock offs" and many re-sellers, but their prices left a lot to be desired (especially once you figured in their shipping cost!).
The cheapest place that I found selling similar lights was selling them for $10.00 plus another $4.50 to ship it. I even saw one place that was selling just the "World's brightest LED" for $5.95, BUT they wanted $8.14 to ship it! (that's per their shipping calculator which goes by your zip, I'm on the east coast BTW).
So what will I be selling these lights for? The answer is $8.00 shipped! Plus, if you order more than one, I could discount the price even more :) If anyone can find a better price for a similar LED flashlight somewhere else on the web, more power to you; I certainly could not.
Ordering/Payment/Shipping info
General: Ok, I do not have these lights yet. I am going to have to contact the manufacturer, place the order, pay for the lights and then have them shipped to me. I would say at most this process will take ~2 weeks.
Payments: I am not taking pre-payments. I want to have the flashlights "in hand" and ready to be shipped out before I would take a single payment. This is because morally I would not feel right about taking payment for something that I didn't have yet.
At this point I plan to accept PayPal only. Just for anyone who does not know, PayPal allows you to pay with funds from your bank account or to pay with a credit card. I may decide to accept money orders, but I will not accept checks. The decision whether to take money orders or not will be made before I receive the lights. The decision will be based on the number of responses I receive(if any) requesting money orders as a payment option.
Shipping: I plan on shipping only to the 48 continental united states. I do realize however that there are quite a few people who frequent gbalight.com that are out of the country. I will try to work something out for you guys but the price may be slightly higher due to extra shipping costs. I don't want to close anyone out of this deal, so most likely we'll be able to work something out :)
The Lights
- These are keychain flashlights that use "The World's Brightest LED"
- The LED has full length leads which make it perfect for experimenting with (i.e. it's not soldered in, and does not have the leads cut down)
- They include 2 cr2016 batteries which will provide 10-12 hours of "usable game playing light", but will keep the LED lit for well over 100 hours!
- They were intended to be Flashlights after all so if you don't want to modify a light with it, just use it as a Flashlight :)
A note about the batteries:
The cr2016 batteries are 3v batteries, are very common, and can be found at "walmart" for $1.96 (I've seen them as cheap as $1.49 online). You may alternatively use 2 cr2032 batteries(these are the coin cell batteries that are used on most motherboards) which have ~twice the capacity of the cr2016's(so you'll get double the time out of two cr2032 batteries).
About extending battery life: you can extend the life of the batteries by implementing a resistor into your circuit. This would reduce the brightness marginally, but would limit the LED's drain on the current so that the batteries would last longer.
The Bottom Line
I'll be ordering the lights probably within the next few days. I'll post any signifigant related info to the site. Once I've received the lights and am ready to start taking orders, I'll put up a page that uses a "shopping cart" system through PayPal.
If anyone has any questions or concerns feel free to mail me.
