Central Speakers
Central Speakers
play a big role in home theatre systems. They always produce the dialogue
in movies and big explosion effects typically start from the central channel
continuing outward. The only problem with Central Speakers today is that
they are not being taken seriously. Central speakers today lack the crisp,
high, frequencies that are necessary, even in dialogue.
To add to the
problem, Dolby Surround decoders have crossovers and amps for the central
channel that restrict it to produce frequencies around 1,000 Hz. When
choosing a Central speaker, strive for a broader range of frequencies,
perhaps all the way to 30 kHz All central speakers should be placed directly
on top of the TV or viewing screen. If you have a TV, be sure that the
speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent distortions on your screen.
