Surround Speakers In traditional surround sound, these speakers do not require that much wattage, so do not go out looking for a 200 Watt Bookshelf to hook up as a surround speaker. The receivers that you have will not even output one fourth of that value in normal operation. Be sure that it's dimensions are small enough to place in back and around your viewing area for maximum effect. In Dolby/THX EX systems however, all speakers should be of the same type and quality, save the subwoofer. This way, sounds coming from the back of you do not necessarily have to be distorted and weak.
