This Department was started in the year 1986 by the college. It began by offering the full-time undergraduate course in Computer Science and Engineering, leading to the degree of Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering. The initial intake was 40 students per year. Later in 1996, intake was increased to 60 students per year due to increased demand.

The college can be credited for being the only engineering college in the region to conduct the Post Graduate course in MCA (Master's of Computer Application). This course was introduced in the year 1992.The intake of students is 30 per year.

Our students are working in various prestigious organizations such as CISCO Corporation, USA ,TCS, Wipro Technologies, MBT ,TATA Infotech , Bajaj , Videocon , Infosys and many companies in USA. Many students are also currently pursuing their higher education in USA. Our students have proven their excellence in various fields .
The course of Bachelors of Engineering in Computer Science and ngineering, mainly covers the subjects as programming skills, Data Structures, Computer Organization , Numerical Methods, microprocessors, Digital Electronics, Algorithms, DBMS , Software engineering , Systems Programming, Operating Systems , Computer Networks, Artificial Intelligence, Compilers, UNIX and so on.
The languages that are studied by the students range from Pascal to Java. The students are adept at Web based application development technology like Java Script, ASP and so on.

The students are familiar with many working platforms like DOS, WINDOWS 95/98 ,Netware, WINDOWS NT, UNIX, LINUX , FOXPRO , Oracle 8.0, Developer 2000, Visual Basic, Visual C++, JAVA.
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering undertakes a number of Sponsored Projects thus bridging the gap between theoretical learning and on-line exposure.

The institute has internet connectivity through a Compaq NT server connected to VSAT.

A lot of extra curricular activities are conducted by the departmental student association called 'COMPSA'. These include Programming contests, lecture series, seminars, personality contests. Such activities inculcate organizational skills, team work and commitment to work among the students.

Our students are regular participants at various Technical Paper Presentation contests both at the National-level as well as the State- level.. Our institution also hosts a State -level Technical paper presentation contest called 'INSEARCH' every year.
