First Created
It was the term of my fifth semester at the campus, September 1997 when this homepage was
first created. As the diary noted:5:20
9/16/97
I made a homepage, and it has
been online. It's the hostel's. My friends asked me how to prove that I made it. Did I
sign there? Very funny! I told it to Mrs. Mary, but he gave me a bundle of advice that
making homepage is easy but to make it always uptodate is very difficult. Oh, since it has
been online, it is not my problem any more. Let the other girls do the job. They join or
have access on the world freely, but I am not.
Beside, is it true that it's easy to make a homepage. I say yes, because I make it with
notepad. No, if you make it with applet or what. I don't know and I don't wish to know. At
least for this moment.
(hehe, rajin banget nulis2 diary ;-))
At that time, my department had not provided free
internet access yet (well, Unix is available, but no link to the world). But the EE department had! So, there I went 'accompanying' Mbak
Sade and Mbak Novi who were doing their final projects at EE labs. Pretending helping Mbak
Sade with the assembly lang ;-)
It was a nice thing to remember when three of us planning how AP's homepage would look
like. Mbak Novi had an idea about the counter, image map, no birthday date on member page,
and so on (even on the home, not everybody likes her birthdate being published, so no
birthdate folk!)
So, thanks mostly goes to them both (ehm, jangan GR dong kalo baca ini. Ketahuan deh gua lagi ngecap...). And one of ITB's webmaster team, Rani (EL95). Also to the father of IF95, Mrs Mary (I know, it should be Mr,
but Mary is girl name, right?)
So, the very first version of this homepage was launched. It's put on the campus' machine.
Everything went well, next update was on Jan 1st 1998. Hmmm, I forgot, who did the photos'
scanning? It's not me ;-) Maybe, it's Oja who used Pustena's scanner.
More Photos and Images
Then I went on practice work at BPPT at the middle of
1998. I scanned images using scanner there (there's where I learnt how to scan, too :)). I
updated the homepage once more, and moved it to the site outside of ITB's domain. This was
only for gaining easier access for updating.
I asked the webmaster of www.itb.ac.id
to change the link to the new address, http://www.peoplecity.com/community/apitb
. btw, I found this free homepage provider http://www.peoplecity.com
or http://pages.whowhere.com from address left on
a computer, well, the folk really loved creating personal homepage that time :-)
Then I graduated :O The homepage became forgotten for a
while. At the place where I lived after leaving the campus, and as well the dormitory, I
did not have much access to the internet. Beside it was very far away from Bandung, I
could not go home to the dormitory :'-(
Some issue arose at the dormitory itself, such as no acceptance to the new member, only
first year students would be accepted, moving to Kanayakan from gelap Nyawang, and so on.
Uh, we couldn't even put a new e-Lebaran-card in the homepage
But then I moved to Jakarta, 3 hours train to Bandung :-) So, let's update the homepage
again. The bad news is http://www.peoplecity.com
has closed their service, it suggested its members to move to another provider. I decided
to move this homepage once more. If I wanna come back to the ITB's domain, will you guys webmaster@itb.ac.id welcome this homepage? :-)
Why did I build this homepage?
Actually this is the first homepage I've ever created. First, I just wanted to learn how to create a homepage, and see it online. People out there may need information about the dormitory. Then, on the end of Sep '99, when I was waiting at the Soekarno Hatta airport to go to a city at Sumatera, I met two women. They were mother and daughter. The daughter has a daughter who was at EL96 that time (so they both quite not young. The mother maybe my grandma). They both were member of the dormitory! Wow! Unplanned meeting.
I was a bit sad that time because that morning I still slept at the dormitory with cold weather of Bandung. It's my last day at the dormitory as a member.
I made a small thought that day afterward (not to recite here). We made picture, and then the picture was sent to me. Thanks a lot! I was not looked so cute at the pic, so I won't put it here :)
Thanks!
Last, thanks goes to those folk at ITB's webmaster team! I was bumped with my job
recently, but seeing the new design of ITB's homepage, and found out that my link is still
there, it made me happier :-) (nggak nyambung ah..., btw, are you seeing what I am
seeing?) |
