Follow-up action plan
    1. Dissemination

To socialize/ disseminate the conference outcomes by preparing summary of the conference programs and outcomes, and distribute them in :

  • Dept. of Engineering Geology, Gadjah Mada University
  • The Conference of the Indonesian Petroleum Association that will be held in Jakarta 1st  to 3rd February 2000.
  • the Annual Conference of Indonesian Geologist Association.
  • Public out-reach via Eng. Geological Dept. website

  •

    2. Staff Workshop

To re-establish the regular workshop in Dept. of Geological Eng. Gadjah Mada University, with particular concern on innovative teaching method and improvement of communication skill.

    3. Regular evaluation

To stimulate the teaching staff in Dept. of Geological Engineering at Gadjah Mada University to conduct regular evaluation on not only their teaching contents/ syllabus but also their teaching method or the student learning process. Thus, not only the students' knowledge and skill that will be improved, but also their attitude and behavior.

The evaluation could be done by conducting self-evaluation and or by distributing the questionnaire to the students, alumni and geological institution that employ our graduates. Therefore, both teaching contents and method could be continuously enhanced in response to the public and nation demands.

    4. Public awareness campaign

To improve public awareness on Geoscience by enhancing the dissemination  of research outcomes conducted in Geological Engineering Dept. at Gadjah Mada University. This will be done by stimulating the research staff to publish their research results not only through the journals or conference, but also by providing poster exhibitions, or publish the information via local and national newspaper/ magazines as well as by set up the communication contact with local council (PEMDA) and other stake-holders.

    5. Training of school teachers

To seek possibilities and supports to conduct training for teachers at school with the subject of Geoscience.

6. Maintain and strengthen the global networks
Link and network communication with other international geological institutions have been set up during the conference. This would be maintained and further developed.

    6. Geotourism

It was learned from the conference excursion that geological exposures, in particular those inside the caves were very attractive for geotourism, providing those are well preserved and maintained. This might be able to be applied in Indonesia to support the development of Geotourism.

7. Next Conference
More serious preparation to participate in the next conference should also be carried out. More Indonesian Geologist should be encouraged to actively participate in the next conference.
