| Introduction
GeoSciEd III followed on
from the success of the 1st International Conference on Geoscience
Education in Southampton, England 1993 and the 2nd in Hilo,
Hawaii in 1997.
The central theme for GeoSciEd
III was dedicated to teaching and learning highlighted the
concept that while we may be teaching, we can all learn form each others'
experiences and practices. The conference was the right venue to present
the research in Geoscience Education to teach other fellow Geoscientists,
and it was thus also the venue for those who want to learn.
The conference was held
in Kensington Campus University of New South Wales, Sydney on 16th
to 21st of January 2000, in collaboration with the Steering
Committee of the International Geoscience Education Organization and the
Australian Geological Association. 175 delegates (64 of them were ladies)
from 21 different countries in the world were participated in this conference.
