ROLL-RE-ROLL
Equipment Needed: 3 - 50 lengths of 1 1/2 inch hose
1 - 1 1/2 nozzle
Fire Gear
Needed: Boots
and helmet
Number of
People: Five
(5)
Object: To
deploy a hose line, extinguish a simulated fire, and break down the hose;
restoring personnel and equipment to the original position.
1. Adjacent
to the starting area (approximately six (6) feet away), there will be three (3)
one and one half (1 1/2) inch sections of hose, in rolled fashion with male
couplings in, standing in an upright position.
A nozzle will be next to the hose, standing upright.
2. At
the whistle start, team members will unroll all three sections of hose, connect
them together, and to the water supply (a water thief), then, extend the hose
lay to the “end line”. The
“Nozzle Man” will then knock down two (2) cones situated approximately
twenty five (25) feet away. There
must be two (2) members of the team at the nozzle when water is flowing.
3. When
both cones have been knocked over by the fire stream, members must then shut
down the water supply, disconnect the hose and nozzle, drain and re-roll the
hose (with the male coupling in), and return the equipment to the original
starting position. Hose must be
tightly rolled to stand upright independent of other sections or equipment.
4. Time
will stop when all personnel have returned to their original starting line and
all equipment remains upright and free standing.
