Canada and the World - during the Second World War, Canada was part of the Fleet Air Arm with Britain and its Dominions. Many Canadians are reported to  have attained high ranks in the FAA and for acts of heroism.

Canadian Regions - at the beginning of Canada's involvement in the war, Newfoundland and Labrador had no effective defences. They didn't have troops, guns or fortifications, because Britain couldn't afford it. After a while, it seemed obvious that Canada was going to have to protect itself on this one.
