Sammy Terry show Opening Circa Early 1980's
As remembered by Jim Mannan, Lori Brehmer, and most completely by Todd Adkins. . .

(Weird electronic music, possibly the image of a clock--???; definitely swirling electronically-generated images) All I can remember of this was the line: "at certain times. . .might not the slave become that master?"--JDM 5/9/99.

On 7-30-99 Lori Brehmer wrote the following, adding a bit more to this opening: Great site. I too am a fan of Sammy...Grew up with him on Saturday nites. Some of the best times my family had growing up in this small town were watching Sammy together and having our dad scare us to death. I always try to remember the different opening for the show. In response to your opening line of "might not the slave become the master" , I also think that the one show opening that I cannot remember all of is " Time.. endless..constant...mysterious" I think your line fits in there somewhere. I would be interested in complere openings of the show, if you have any. Would love to see a Sammy anniversary show. My kids liked to watch in the early 80's scared them to death too.
Thanks for the page...

Thanks Lori!--JDM

Recently Todd Adkins sent me the most complete remembering of this show opening:

Hi Jim, I am huge Sammy Terry fan. I too grew up with Indy's favorite ghoul. I just love your web site - you've obviously put a lot of work into it. I haven't even finished going through it yet, but I had to write when I came upon your Openings/Closings page. I can help you out with the opening that included the line "might not the slave become master…" That opening scared the crap outta me every Friday night!

This may not be exactly to the letter, but it's pretty darn close:

"Time, endless, constant, mysterious. At the right ....time - might not the slave become master; the bizarre become commonplace; the dead ...become LIVING! A time, when the moon peaks out over the horizon. A time ...for Sammy ...Terry!!!!" (followed by a scream I believe, and the sound of Sammy slowly creaking open that coffin lid - and of course that famous laugh!)
