Service Awards for Girls
Here are some service awards your girls and you can received. These service awards are from organizations outside of Girl Scouts. These awards are great for the girls to work toward.
The Congressional Award
The Congressional Award is a public partnership created by Congress to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America's youth. The Congressional Award provides a unique opportunity for young people to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character and foster community service, personal development, and citizenship.
The President's Volunteer Service Award
This award replaces the President's Student-Service Award which the girls from our service unit who earned their Bronze, Silver and Gold awards received last year. This award was created to recognize the tens of millions of Americans who have made a sustained commitment to volunteer service. This award is given to individuals, families and groups that have demonstrated outstanding volunteer service and civic participation over a 12 month period.
United States Heritage Award
The United States Heritage Award was designed by scouts and adults to give youth recognition for learning about the heritage of the United States of America, and being involved.
The Prudential Spirit of Community Award
This award honors youth, grades 5-12, who have volunteered in the past year to help make their community a better place to love in. Local honoree's receive a certificate of recognition from their organization while state honoree's receive $1000, an engraved silver medallion and an all expense paid trip to Washington DC for the national recognition event. National honoree's receive an additional award of $5000, an engraved gold medallion and a trophy for their school or organization.
