an ode to no one/music/bands

Garbage Garbage

I think Shirley Manson is an awesome song writer, who knows exactly how I feel. My sister and I fell in love with Garbage after watching "Only Happy When It Rains" on muchmusic, and soon after, we put our money together to get their s/t album. The were one of the first bands we truly loved. My sister even cut her barbies hair and "dyed" it red with lipstick!

Manic Street Preachers Manic Street Preachers

I got into the Manic Street Preachers as soon as I heard "If You Tolerate This..." when I was 15/16. My sister got Generation Terrorists soon after and we were immediately addicted. We own every LP, and we're constantly talking about them as if they're our friends. Yes, we're sad like that.

    Jeff Buckley Jeff Buckley

I can't say much about Jeff Buckley. I adore him. I got into his music while I was heavily depressed and his music, along with other things, helped me get out of that place. His music changed my life and made me listen to music differently than what I was used to. He made me aware of what a real and honest art it is, and how it can be a form of escape, whether you are writing it or listening to it.

    Black Halos Black Halos

This is the first punk band that I really really loved. It's a shame they broke up; however, they're back together now! I always listen to them when I'm feeling angsty! The Black Halos are one of those bands whose shows I keep missing when they're in town. One of these times I'm going to finally get to see them.
