Calamities In The Earth(Granger): There is an area of accidents and resulting deaths that we need to single out for some attention in answering this question concerning accidents and premature deaths. That is the unusual situation where in times of mass calamities in the earth such as hurricanes, earthquakes, or violent riots, or in time of war, where great numbers of people, especially very young people, are killed suddenly in the midst of life. This is a situation fraught with anguish, sorrow, grief and misunderstanding that must be responded to. Calamities in the earth, wars and disasters, are never easy or pleasant to cope with, or to write about. We have travelled the heights of disasters and survived wars in the earth; we have known fame and have walked in famine; we have experienced the high seas of earth's calamities; we have walked through drought and have died in epidemics. Yet, after all this, we do not find it easy to write this material concerning the nature of these calamities. To write objectively is our aim; we will do our best, to the full extent of our ability. As we examine this material, it occurs to us that we need to make one point clear. We have no "court of last resort" available to us in presenting this material. We cannot walk up to God's desk, so to speak, and ask for the answer so that we can send a divine message back to earth. That is one problem with this form of communication. When people do accept it they take it for granted that it comes, "from the desk of God ...dictated but not signed," as a divine message. You must remember always that we, in the great scale of consciousness, are not far removed from you on the earth. We write here to the best of our collective abilities, but we are not divine in our judgment, not by any means. In answering this question, we want to put this writing in perspective first. The disasters and wars on earth are not of any divine intervention, nor should they be referred to as "Acts of God." This is a very misleading concept. We see these disaster-type of accidents as having been allowed to happen; however, many could have been avoided if the collective minds of those participating had so chosen not to participate. Let us bring the scale down to a simple one-on-one situation. Suppose a man is about to board an airplane, or ship, or train, or bus that will be involved in a disaster on this trip. Does this man, in his higher conscious mind have any awareness that he is about to be killed in an accident? And will this accident result in his death being brought about prematurely, in other words, before his soul's planned time for him to die? The man may be very well aware [in his higher consciousness] of the impending accident and, indeed, may have chosen this way of leaving the physical life rather than through some form of sickness. It may be, however, that he is not aware of the accident-to-be. (You may be assured that his High-soul is aware, and is allowing the person to participate in this form of premature death, otherwise he or she could not possibly be involved.) In the mind and personality there may be no awareness of the accident because, for some reason, the soul has chosen to withhold the information from the personality and the mind of the person. This is not to be considered any form of punishment (the human mind is always ready to relate everything in life to some form of punishment). To get any real perspective here you must try to see life and consciousness through the eyes of the High-soul, with maybe hundreds of personalities included in its total being. Death has no real meaning to the soul; in soul-terms there is no death. Physical life in the earth is simply one more experience through this particular personality. The personality is as real and as close to the High-soul, and as alive, after physical death as it was before. Many, many, many changes and developments are taking place in the High-soul to which this man or woman in our illustration belongs. It may be very true that the soul's purpose can be served better in removing the personality from the physical scene. It may be that the purpose of the soul is not, any longer, achievable on the earth through this personality. That does not mean this person is not living a useful life on earth. It simply means that his or her objectives for development can be achieved better in some other plane of life. When the scene relates to a larger scale, such as in times of war or rebellions, or riots, or massive disasters on the earth, we see a very different situation at the High-soul level. Wars are not designed in Heaven! They are the direct result of man's inhumanity to man. They are the final culmination of great areas of hate-thinking, greed, lust for power, and a short-sighted lack of ability of great masses of people to accept other masses of people in the earth. What a terrible waste of ability and energy and life. Here we sit together in this group (The Starters) with many from almost every race of people in the earth (some of races that are no longer in the earth). We look at our concerted effort to develop a higher level of consciousness and style of thinking in the earth, and watch the struggles on earth between nations and people. In this group we include Jews and Arabs, Russians and Americans, Canadians who are of French and of English extractions, Japanese and Australians, Indians of North America, and natives of the tribes and nations of South America, of the islands of the Pacific and many from Africa and India. We could go on until we covered the earth and history. Now we sit here trying to tell people on earth, through whatever means we have at our disposal (this writing is one) that war is a useless waste of time, of history, of energy, and most of all, of human life. The untold suffering inflicted on the earth in the name of God and Country, in the name of Justice, in the name of National Pride, in the name of Kings and Queens, is a heartbreaking situation to observe from here. Believe you me: there is one cause of war, and that cause is hate of one man in the earth for another man of equal, God-given status. In this statement, we must leave women out because they, in general, have not been responsible for the disasters of war. We would have to say, in defence of women of the world, they have a better mind, are better equipped in emotion and attitude, to run the nations of the world than the great men of history. Had women been the leaders of world governments throughout history, many wars would have been avoided. So much for the great leaders of the world. We will go back now to our basis of personal accidents in times of war. There seems to be some form of high psychic agreement between the High-souls of all men, that in the situation where man in the earth brings war on his head, the disasters will be allowed to follow in due course. The High-souls of men will not interfere with the freedom-of-choice when men and nations set out to bring war into their midst out of hate and greed, and envy. The disasters of war are the creations of men, out of their own freedom to choose. No God, no High-soul, no high power in Heaven gives any blessing to war in any shape or form. The individual, in this situation, is a victim of the disaster brought on by the nations and tribes of world society. His or her High-soul permits the untimely disaster to take place. The victims of any war, arriving on this side, need help to develop and grow, much as the child. We need to comment on natural disasters in the earth, to the extent that they are scenes of accidents. Then we will proceed with the explanation of training and growth and development for victims of accidents, as given from this side of the thin curtain called death. The nature of natural disasters is complex to explain. There is a psychic aspect to natural disasters that is not generally recognized in the sciences of the earth. Man has more influence in natural disasters than he is normally aware. Floods as a result of heavy rains, for example, may have a relationship to the mass conscious will of a large area of people over a long period of time. We cannot do justice to this aspect of the subject in this book, but we note it for interest. The victim of a natural disaster, such as an earthquake, may be crippled, hurt, or killed prior to completion of the range of his or her life-pattern. This individual is a victim of an accident as much as the war casualty. We do not understand clearly the nature of the relationship with the High-soul when, obviously, it permits the person to be involved in the natural accident. There is an awareness of the pending accident in the psychic levels of consciousness. We believe that, in most instances of this nature, the mind at deeper levels is aware of the accident-to-be, and of the role its person will play in the accident or disaster. The soul and personality may agree to experience the disaster as a victim. We see no reason why the soul could not prevent the accident in terms of its own person if it chose to follow that course. The deeper mind has great powers to choose the role it will allow the body to enter into in any situation. We believe that natural disasters could be influenced by the mass-mind of man in the earth. If the Universal Mind of Consciousness were approached by a mass appeal from the minds of earth, almost any situation in nature could be influenced and changed. However, the mass-mind of earth cannot change the phenomenon it does not recognize as existing. We are of the opinion that vast areas of nature would respond to the mass-mind and will of any large area of the earth's population when, in harmony of individual wills, this desire was presented in one great pattern of thought-energy. The power of the mass-mind relative to any desire for any reason is almost beyond comprehension. We will proceed with the second part of your question. |
