The Nature of Consciousness

(Granger): "In The Beginning God...." What does this old phrase mean? Well, it does not refer to clock, sidereal, or historical time. You see, nothing can do more harm than a theologian who tries to explain spiritual ideas in terms of the clock. This phrase means simply that at the source of all consciousness, of all effort, of all struggle, is the original, conscious, aware, creating mind of The Source. There is no consciousness; there is no awareness; there is no struggle to exist outside of this source, by whatever name you may wish to refer to it.

We do not want to get into a discussion of the Book of Genesis here. We would simply say that, in our opinion from having read this story of creation from the earth-side, and now from this side, we found, and still find it to be a beautiful old story of the beginning of life in the earth. The truth contained here in so few words, written after years of handing down without written records, is in itself about as much of a miracle as any we know of. Why man has used it to debate and argue over for centuries is beyond comprehension. It is a very simple explanation, in very beautiful, symbolic terms, covering billions of years of earth-time. Do not waste time or effort on those who wish to argue for or against it. Both minds are of the same mental-set and neither will benefit from your discussion.

There are other aspects we need to present concerning the nature of consciousness and the purpose of man in the midst thereof. Man is a psychic being in a physical body. Don't get weary of our repeating that. Man's purpose comes out of the purpose of his High-soul; the soul achieves its purposes in many ways. One of these many ways is to send personalities into the physical life to live in "time" (we must use that term) and physical space. There are many of these lifetimes and personalities sent out into earth from each soul. They are not, and we repeat not "reincarnations" of the same personality. Each personality, of the many sent out by each soul, lives its lifetime on earth and continues to live through many levels of spiritual consciousness after life on earth. Reincarnation, as usually presented in writings on earth, simply does not exist. It simply is not true. Each one must decide on his or her own beliefs, but we stand on record as saying this is a false belief, or a misunderstanding.

Certain orientations are assigned to a personality through a memory process. The High-soul implants memories from certain related lives of its other personalities (who once lived in the earth) into the personality-memory of the one now entering life in the earth. Here we may find the reason why, under hypnosis for example, a person may recall other "lifetimes.". Understand, however, this particular person did not ever live those other lifetimes. If it were true that this particular person had once lived those lifetimes, the integrity of that previous person's lifetime would have been destroyed. It is important to clarify that much wrong thinking is present in the world in this area, through the philosophy associated with the ideas of reincarnation. We are not here to criticize anyone's beliefs; they will stand or fall on their own rightness or otherwise. But we need to present this information as clearly as we are capable. No misunderstanding should be responsible for misleading people who read this material. Each and every High-soul retains the everlasting integrity of each and every one of its personalities for all time. No personality, once created, is ever taken over or absorbed by some other personality.

The purpose of the soul is implanted in the mind of each personality sent into the physical body at the time of birth. This physical body, with its brain, contains the psychic body, which will remain with the physical body throughout it lifetime on earth. At the end of physical life, the psychic body leaves the physical body. The psychic body continues to exist in all reality and in all awareness, using the psychic mind, which contains for all time every last detail of knowledge and thinking, as created or processed through the physical brain during life on earth. The psychic mind, in its psychic body, will continue (with its source material from physical-earth life) to grow, to learn, to develop through various stages and phases of personal development.

Throughout these endless phases of spiritual development following the earth life, each personality will never cease to be aware of its earth life. The earth life is the baseline where it began its individual, personal development following its original release and assignment from the High-soul. The personality, as it develops, will not lose contact with its High-soul; it will continue to receive energy and vitality from the soul; it will continue to send information and awareness to the soul; it will always know the source from whence it came; it will never cease to grow and develop. It will always be a personality of self-aware life and vitality. As the stages of development progress, the personality may, of its own choice, assume new forms and structures, but the knowledge gained on earth will never be lost or removed from awareness.

Each High-soul is a well developed and mature being. Each understands the needs of other souls. Each understands the need to allow all other souls to develop along the patterns of development assigned to them; each must and will support the development of other souls. Here is where you will find motivation expressed through unique initiative in practice. There is no competitive struggle here; no jockeying for advantage; no attempt to get a leg up on some other High-soul. This soul-effort to develop and expand awareness is a beautiful, open, healthy, highly motivated effort carried out in amazing levels of energy. The idea of taking advantage of another to gain for oneself is a unique, human, earth-concept. It does not exist in the higher levels of consciousness.
