The Structure of the League - The Global Football League in Season IV will for the first time have an added dimension of players forming their own teams and then the teams competing head to head. The teams that succeed will be those that are prepared to work together to encourage those players that are not doing too well with scores, and to ensure that everyone in the team enters. Once the season has started the teams are set, so choose your allies carefully!! There are 16 teams in Phase 1, and the teams are split into two conferences, with each of the eight teams in each conference playing each other once. Teams do not play teams in the other conference from their's. The top four teams in each conference progress to Phase 2. Phase 2 will have eight teams that will also compete in a round robin format, and the top four teams will progress to the Semi Finals. The Semi Finals will also be round robin, but with there being just the four teams there will be little room for mistakes. The top to teams will progress to the Final, and the Final will be held over two legs, with the team with the highest aggregate score winning the League. Competing Week to Week - All League matches are head-to-to head, (as with real Football). Players scores are all added together, and then the totals of the two teams will determine who gets the win. If your team fails to enter a prediction for a League week, then you lose if your opponent enters and scores points. If both players fail to score points, (or fail to enter), then the fixture is void and will not be replayed. The format for the League play is round robin, with 3 points for a win, and 1 point for a draw. Fixtures - The fixture listing for Season IV will be added to the website as the season progresses. Players from Season III said that although full listings for the season were a good thing, they would have preferred to have predicted on other competitions such as the Champions League, FA Cup and Nationwide matches. I have decided that some matches will be from World Cup qualifiers, and at this stage the season will finish with the World Cup Final. Fixtures will appear 12-14 days before the matches take place, so there will be plenty of time to make predictions and contact team mates, before entering for matches. Seeding - All rounds for the League and Cup are completely random. This includes the initial draw for who will play from week to week - Though players only play each other once in each phase of the League competition. Tie Breaker - The tie-breaker will only be used in the Final if needed. The team that has the highest scoring player for one of the legs will advance. If the top two scorers are equal, then 2nd highest etc. In the unlikely even that this does not produce a winner, then a replay playoff will be used. (If both teams fail to score, then neither is Champion).
