Tuesday Throwdown, Feb 15, 2005, from the LA Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California
"Bruises" by Unloco was playing as the fans in the LA Sports Arena were cheering loudly as GCA was set to start Tuesday Throwdown! Ryan "Martini" Duncan and Bob Sky welcomed everyone to the City of Angels, los Angeles, California for what promised to be an action packed evening. There were 4 fights, 8 fighters and ALL would be making their Pentagon Debut! They then talked about this past Saturday, "GCA: No Love Lost" and what a spectacular Pay Per View event it was. Rudy "Dolemite" Jackson suprised a few people but he knocked out "Big Train" Bruce Roberts. Andrew Woods is the DvG Tropy winner and at "GCA: Domination" he will announce whether he wants a shot at the Heavyweight Title or if he will defend the trophy in mid-March. Then of course, the shocking Light-Weight Title Match. Matthew Draeven suffered a severe concussion and will be out for a month or so. esteban Suave is the Light-Weight Champ and feels happy. Now it was time to start things off with a Light-Weight fight between:
"Pimp Daddy Slick" Demont Clemons v Declan MacIntosh
It was time for the Tale of the Tape: Demont was taller by 1 inch so there was no advantage. He did however outweigh MacIntosh by 11 pounds. Clemons is a wrestler and MacIntosh is a Judo fighter.
"Fight Song" by D12 started to play and Demont Clemons came out with a big grin on his face. He held his arms open wide and waited for a huge response. he didn't get one and he looked perturbed as he walked down to The Pentagon. Bob Sky said that fans aren't told who cheer for, and Demont ought to be focused on the fight, not the crowd.
"Live For This" by Hatebreed started to play as Declan came out. He got a decent response as he marched straight for The Pentagon, he got in and stretched. Julia "The Siren" Stevenson then took the mic.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Tuesday Throwdown! Our first fight is a Light-Weight bout scheduled for 5 Rounds! Introducing first to my left. He stands at 6'0" and weighs 183 pounds. He is a Freestyle Wrestler wearing the Blue and Black Striped Singlet. From Detroit, Michigan, making his GCA debut..."Pimp Daddy Slick" Demont CLEMONS!"
"And his opponent. A Judo fighter who stands at 5'11", weighs 172 pounds. Dressed in the Blue and Red Kilt with black trunks underneath, from Edinburugh, Scotland, Declan MACINTOSH"
Julia left and the crowd roared big time as Eric Brody took the stage. He smiled as a little as he started off the fight and the crowd chanted along as Brody said the familiar words:
"Welcome to GCA...Clemons, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' MacIntosh, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
The fighters met in the middle and Bob Sky said that these two had choice words for each other, this one would be good.
Round 1: They came to the middle, and Clemons expected to grapple but Declan caught him and everyone off guard by delivering a wicked haymaker that busted open Clemon's eyebrow! The crowd roared as Declan lifted Clemoins up and got a nice front slam. Clemons set up guard as Declan tried to manouver. They jockeyed for position, with declan throwing a few fists when Clemons not only got a sweep, but he got behind Declan! Clemons had Declan sitting up, he was standing and he kneed Declan in the back and then started throwing hard punches at Declan's head! Declan quickly rolled but ended up on his back. The round ended with Clemons on top but not having a chance to do much else.
Bob Sky said that he knew this was coming, the ground game would be at the forefront of this fight, but he was impressed with the early standing strike by Declan. It was time for a quick commerical.
Commercial for "Jim's Flakes of Chicken"
After commerical, Eric Brody was ready to start Round 2 and the fans chanted along:
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: They clinched to start things off and Declan used a Flowing Hip Throw to take Clemons down. However, Clemons got right to his feet, turned and as Declan rushed in, he grabbed Declan, lifted him up and put him down HARD with a side slam. Clemons then got side control and started throwing hard punches at Declan's face! Declan managed to get out of there and they were back to their feet. Declan got a nice takedown by clinching and sweeping the leg. Clemons could only get a half guard and Declan took advantage. He rose his upper body up and slammed down hard with BOTH fists onto Clemon's face! Clemons had more blood from the eye and now blood from his nose! Declan spent the rest of the round trying to throw more shots into Clemons's face.
"Martini" Duncan said that the action was phenomenal. Bob Sky said that in Round 2, the clear advantage was with Declan MacIntosh. It was time for a commercial break.
Commercial for "General Goo Cereal- The cereal that turns to warm mush as soon as you add milk!"
After the break, Brody stood ready to start Round 3
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
They met in the middle and clinched. Declan used leverage to move Clemons against the cage, Declan then lifted and slammed Clemons face first against the Cage! As Clemons knelt helplessly, the fans were in a frenzy as Declan fired knees to the back of the head and punches at the side of the head and face! Brody stepped in and checked over Clemons who looked like a wreck, Dr. Tim Sheridan came in and gave his opinion to brody. Brody then called the fight and Dr. Sheridan went backstage with Clemons to treat him!
Winner by Ref Stoppage at 0:58 of Round 3 Declan MacIntosh!
Both Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky said that Declan looked very impressive and menacing.
It was time for the 2nd Light-Weight match of the evening, this would feature:
Virgil Norton v Duncan MacPherson
It was time for The Tale of the Tape: Duncan MacPherson had a 3 inch height advantage and a 19 pound weight advantage. In the Light-Weight division, 19 pounds is a lot. Virgil Norton was a Submission Wrestler and Duncan was a Black Belt in Judo . In fact, as an interesting side note: Declan MacIntosh is Duncan's older cousin and helped Duncan get into Judo.
"Blunt Force Trauma" by Damageplan started to play and Virgil Norton came out, he got some cheers and slapped a few hands as he made his way down to The Pentagon
"Zero Signal" by Fear Factory started to play and Duncan MacPherson came out to cheers. He had a smile on his face as he walked down to The Pentagon and got to his spot. Waiting there was Eric Brody and Julia "The Siren" Stevenson.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Light-Weight fight is slated for 5 Rounds! Both fighters are making their GCA debut! Introducing first to my left. He is a Submission Wrestler from New York City. Standing at 6'1", weighing in at 166 pounds. Wearing the white spandex shorts, he is Virgil NORTON!"
"And his opponent. Dressed in the Green and red Kilt with short green tights underneath. He is a black belt in Judo and hails from Edinburugh, Scotland. Standing at 6'4", weighing in at 185 pounds. He is Duncan MACPHERSON!"
Julia left and the fans cheered as Brody took control:
"Welcome to GCA boys...Norotn...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...MacPherson...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
They met in the middle and this one was underway!
Round 1: Virgil and Duncan clinched where both men threw weak knees, but Virgil managed to trip Duncan. Duncan quickly rolled on top and Virgil set up the guard. However, Duncan lifted Virgil up, took three steps anbd slammed him into the mat! Duncan kept on top of him by throwing chops and other open handed strikes. Virgil was able to recover and he tied up Duncan's legs with his own to keep Duncan from being able to lift. Vitgil stuck from underneath with punches and forearms, but didn't do a lot of damage. He then tiedf up Duncan's arms and Brody forced them back to their feet. Virgil rushed in and took Duncan down with a Flipping Armbar! He had the Armbar locked in tight, Duncan was on his back and helpless but then the buzzer sounded and Round 1 ended.
Sky said that Norton has the advantage over most wrestlers in GCA because his specilaty is submissions. He can ground and pound, but he is also expert with tap pout as we just saw. It was now time for a commercial.
Commercial for "Dickie Simon's Homo Brand Milk"
After commercial, Brody was ready to start Round 2.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: This round srarted off low key as both men were cautious. Virgil witnessed Duncan's slam ability and Duncan saw how quickly Virgil can slap on a submission. Virgil got in the first offense with a double leg takedown. Duncan set up full guard and kept Virgil at bay. Brody broke them up and got them to their feet. Duncan fired a weak kick to Virgil's leg. Both men then clinched and pushed each other up against the Cage. It looked like they were actually rolling around the Cage, neither man got the advantage. The round ended when Virgil managed to get a double underhook and threw Duncan down. However, Duncan's feet were aginst the Cage and he was able to counter-manouver Virgil's attack.
Bob Sky said that the round was conservative but in his books, he thinks Virgil Norton has a slight advantage. However, both men need to step up and get intense. It was now time for a commercial.
Commercial: "A GCA:Domination promo highlighting Fritz Kohler v EJB for the GCA Heavyweight title"
Ryan Duncan said that GCA:Domination was going to be a great event. Bob Sky agreed and said Brody was was ready to start Round 3.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: Virgil Norton came out and he scored with a jab. He then clinched with Duncan and scored with a couple of knees. He pushed Duncan up against the Cage, but then Duncan tripped him! Duncan got on top but couldn't do much, so brody hauled them back to their feet. Virgil tried for a single leg shoot but Duncan sidestepped it and lunged with a chop that caught Virgil on the back of the head! As Virgil lay on his stomach, Duncan mounted from behind and thre wicked shots at the back and side of Virgil's head. Virgil got on all fours and Duncan chopped him on the trapiezius! Virgil immediately went limp and Brody tackled Duncan to keep him from attacking!
Winner by KO at 3:34 of Round 3: Duncan MacPherson!
Ryan Duncan said that both Declan MacIntosh and Duncan MacPherson were strong fighters. Bob Sky said that Declan was a good teacher and influence on his younger cousin. Bob Sky wondered what it would be like if they fought. However, it was now time for the Heavyweights. The first Heavyweigt match would feature:
Stan Roper v Jose Guerrero
It was time for the Tale of the Tape: Stan Roper at 6'2" and 242 pounds had the decisive advantages in height, weight and power. Their styles were going to prove interesting as Jose Guerrero was into Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Stan Roper was a Freestyle Fighter. He adopted no one discipline but learned a little a a lot. Bob Sky said that approach had advantages and disadvantages. One one hand, it meant versatility and the ability to adapt to either a ground game or a slugfest, however the drawback is that against an expert, he might not know enough to put them down. He said if Stan Roper was smart, he'd stay on his feet and try to make Jose brawl.
"Twist The Knife (Slowly)" by Napalm's Death started to play as Stan Roper came out. The fans cheered and he walked down to the Pentagon.
"Give It Up" by Screwball replaced the first theme and out came Jose Guerrero with his mentor Alvarez Montoya Ricardo DeJesus. They made their way down to The Pentagon as Julia "The Siren" Stevenson made the introductions.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Heavyweight bout is scheduled for 5 rounds! Both fighters are making their GCA Debut! Introducing first to my left. He stands at 6'2" and weighs 242 pounds. He is a Freesyle Fighter from Phoenix, Arizona. Dressed in the Green Cammo print trunks, he is Stan ROPER!"
"And his opponent. A practicioner of Brazilian Ju-Jitsu. He stands at 5'11", weighs 218 pounds, and is wearing the short green tights with the mexican Flag ob the butt. Originally from Mexico City, Mexico. He is Jose GUERRERO!"
The Spanish population roared for Jose as Brody took center stage.
"Gentlemen, welcome to the Pentagon...Rpoer, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...Guerrero, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
They met, tapped gloves and this one got underway!
Round 1: Jose got a leg kick in on Stan to start it off. Roper started moving around, faking and then he rushed in and got Jose with a WICKED Uppercut! Jose was visibly stunned but he kept his hands up. Roper threrw more punches, but Kose backed away from them. Soon Jose's back was against the Cage. Roper pressed his advantage by throwing kicks and punches and then backing up a step when Jose tried for a takedown. To his credit, Jose was blocking Roper's strikes, except at the en, Roper nailed a left onto Jose's cheek, but the round ended.
Bob Sky said Roper was looking very good and in control early on, and needed to keep the fight on his feet. Ryan Duncan then said GCA Tuesday Throwdown will be back after a short break.
Commercial: "General Goo Cereal"
Ryan welcomed everyone back and said it was time for round 2.
'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: The round started off with Jose landing a nice kick to Roper's outer thigh, but Roper shrugged it off. He started charging in and as Jose bent over to grab the legs, Roper gave him a big right hook that knocked him down! Roper had a mount going and Jose couldn't set up any kind of guard. Jose tried to tie up Roper's hands, but Roper got a hand free and dropped a hammer fist onto Jose's eye! Jose tried tying Roper again, but before the round ened, Stan Roper nailed Jose in the cheek with a viscious hook!
Ryan Duncan said that Stan Roper was a machine. Bob Sky said that Roper had firm control of this match. It was time for a quick commercial break.
Commercial: "GCA:Domination promo highlighting Fritz Kohler v EJB for the GCA Heavyweight title."
Ryan Duncan said he couldn't wait to see that fight. Brody was now ready for Round 3.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: Stan Roper tried a Muay Thai Roundhouse Kick, but Jose caught the leg and started pounding on Roper's quad with a hammer fist! Roper's leg turned red in a hurry. Jose then took Stan down and got a seated leg lock on the bad leg! Roper looked to be in trouble but a furious flurry from a seated position managed to break the hold. Stan Roper got up but he couldn't put a lot of weight on the leg. Bob Sky said that Roper was in trouble. Jose moved in again, but Roper took Jose down! Roper stayed on top, trying to throw punches at Jose's face and ribs. The round ended with Roper hitting Jose hard in the ribs.
Ryan Duncan was amazed at quickly the fight turned around. Jose Guerrero just exploded. Bob Sky said that now it looked Jose had the advantage due to Roper's bad leg, so he needed to press that. Bob said that Roper going to the ground was an act of desperation. It was time for a quick commercial as Brody and Dr. Bryan Duncan wanted to look at the leg of Stan Roper.
Commercial: "Dickie Simon's Homo brand Milk"
After commercial, Ryan Duncan welcvomed everyone back anmd said that during the break, Dr Bryan Duncan and Eric Brody talked to Roper. he said he could fight, he proved he could still defend himself and he inisisted the fight go on. Dr. Bryan Duncan then said that the leg was injured but that it wasn't serious serious enough to stop the fight. Brody then got ready to call them out to Round 4.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"..."IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 4: Jose Guerrero ran in and tried a single leg shoot, but Stan Roper got a low uppercut on Jose's face! Jose was knocked back on his butt and Stan Roper hobbled forward and lunged. Jose saw Roper coming and shocked everyone when he caught hold of Roper and caught him with a Guillotine Choke! Roper trtied to fight out of it, but Jose was much too strong, plus Roper's weak leg didn't help him get in a good spot to push Jose off. Jose had it clamped on and Stan Roper tapped out!
Winner by Submission at 1:49 of Round 4: Jose Guerrero!
Both Duncan and Sky said that it was a phenomenal fight with Stan Roper showing us that even though he lost, he's still a fighter. Jose Guerrero was fortunate in Bob Sky's eyes though. If it hadn't been for that lucky break in Round 3, Stan Roper may have ended it. Still, both men put forth a good effort.
It was now time for the Main Event! TYhe Main Event this week on Throwdown would feature:
