HEAVY GAUGE

HEAVY GAUGE (***1/2) = Whoa! When you hear the tune and the heavy violins, you think "James Bond." It takes time to get used to this song, and so my only advice is "BE PATIENT!". I listen to this song when I'm in a black mood. But really, I think the video is nice!! :)

FATSOUNDS (****) = YEAH! This is more like it. This song is fast and Teru sings with energy. Up to this day, I still cannot follow him. The first song I liked in this album. Any rocker would like this song.

SURVIVAL (****) = Because I bought the GLAY DRIVE before this, I laughed when I heard it. This is a tamer version of the GLAY DRIVE version but still quite enjoyable. There are some bits which are nice, such as the piano, Teru going "Oh YEAH!" instead of a weird electronic sound going "Ahhh!" Great song!!

Kokodewanai Dokokae (***1/2) = I call this and "SUMMER FM" Thailand songs because I listened to these two the most when I was there. A relaxing song to listen to, but the choruses tend to drag. A nice song for a summer holiday.

HAPPINESS (****) = Ahh! The famous ballad. I like this song for being just so... sad? The simple poignancy when Teru sadly sings, "Don't wanna hurt you anymore...tell me the meaning of your happiness..." makes me have a strange feeling in my chest. I like the part where he goes, "Aishiteru...aishiteru..." because it's just so sweet. Great pianos and bass.

SUMMER FM (**1/2) = This song has such a great beginning! Noooo! Why did it have to go on forever in the chorus? And they performed it especially well in the GLAY GLOBAL COMMUNICATION EXPO'2000 HOKKAIDO!!! I would've given it **** if they had done it that way. Oh well. *sigh*.

LEVEL DEVIL (***1/2) = Now this has a weird beginning. It reminds me of kids doing Buddhist chanting or something. +really reminds me of the temple I go to!+. Anyway, it suddenly picks up around the 2nd minute and wow! You have a great song! I especially love it when Teru goes "It's show time, it's show time, WHOO!".

BE WITH YOU (****) = SHAKESPERE +If music be the food of love, then play on+. Yes, play on. This song has such beautiful verses and Teru sings once again with poignancy. This is just such a perfect song. This is also one of the first few songs I heard. The only flaw is that the guitars aren't that heavy, neither is the bass, and Teru's voice is too strained, making the GLAY DRIVE version a much superior one.

Winter, again (****) = Now THIS is the song to listen to. From the mysterious opening, to the haunting verses to the passionate chorus. This song gives a beautiful winter scenery and the lyrics are awfully fitting. This song is just so beautiful, it's no wonder it's a classic. To me, it sounds awfully Japanese, y'know, the wind instrument during the opening and ending. I really loved this song, but only when I decided to let the songs go on without me stopping them. I heard it, then WHAM! The rest was history. I think I like this more than Kougaiji. :)

WILL BE KING (***) = What the hell? This is probably a hint that GLAY were going to produce Unity! Anyway, this song is like it's divided into two. I prefer the second bit. I especially like the part where Teru goes, "KATERU MADE!" so emotionally. Yeah.

Ikigai (****) = Breathe! This is one of their most meaningful, "deep" songs. Oh, yeah! I never liked this song until recently, which goes to show : "YOU NEVER KNOW TILL YOU GIVE IT A CHANCE". It's very rock-ish and, well is one of the best songs in this album. 'Nuff said.

Saville Row~saville row san banchi~ (****) = I listened to it once, then stopped listening to this song for one year! After trying again the second time, I loved it. It's quite London-ish and gives me images of parks and kinda reminds me of Medieval England. An easy-going song and quite a nice way to end it when he sings "You're my precious, everything, must pass oh oh oh!".
