Firstly, you might notice there's no GLAY member profile up. Well, you'll find it here. Anyway, instead of doing a biography, I'm doing an introduction. Why? Well, I'm really busy with schoolwork, and GLAY's biography is just sooo long! +Plus,I'm pretty lazy!+. Besides, I rarely read biographies! Sooo long and stale. Not all websites have biographies anyway.
GLAY are a Japanese rock-pop band +for you people who are still confused "what's GLAY? A soft drink?"+ Takuro wanted to do pop and rock music. Since rock music is black and pop music is white, mix the colours and you get: GRAY. Since the Japanese +and the Chinese+ pronounce "l" as "R", you get, :GLAY, which is rather ironic, because you spell it GLAY and they'll say "GRAY". Hmmmm...
Takuro is the guitarist, pianist and leader. He writes and composes most songs. Teru is the vocalist, Jiro, the bassist and Hisashi, the lead guitarist. Though Takuro is the main songwriter/composer, the other three chip in and write songs as well.
What else? Well, people tend to think GLAY are a boyband because they are quite "pretty", but you are wrong. Just because Hisashi prances around in a cheongsam doesn't mean they are. Speaking of which, each member has his own individual "style" of performing.
Teru, being the singer, is the main member who interacts with the audience. He acts very friendly and natural on stage, and loves to say "Motto" and "Ikuze", not to mention the weird "LAST SONG!" when it's not the last song. Still, he manages to make the audience get hyped up, and that's a very good thing. Plus, he has opted for a more masculine look and isn't as effeminated as Hisashi or Jiro.
Takuro acts as manly as Teru and seems to enjoy himself a lot during lives. He's always absorbed in the music and laughing and sometimes, dancing to the music. He also interacts with the crowd quite a lot. He seems to like to point to himself and hug himself sometimes. He, too, gets the crowd hyped up. +especially during ACID HEAD!+
Jiro, what can I say man? He naturally makes girls go insane just by walking to their side of the stage. He makes faces and jumps around. He's grown now, so I doubt her'll be doing anymore of that. In the BEAT OUT! concert, he always did his "head-banging" move and crashes into the wall and made tons of faces. He's a hyper guy and wears quite a lot of make-up and has outrageous hairstyles from the sweet "schoolboy" look during the BEAT OUT! concert to his infamous "Dragonball Z hairstyle" +to which my sister swoons over+.
Hisashi has a very "cool" aura about him, and even when he's not performing. Like kougaiji said, he's the "coolest" one out of all. Any cooler and he'll freeze. He LOVES to cross-dress and is quite a trend-setter. I love his outfits, especially his knee-high boots to his cheongsams. He's really small and looks good in those outfits. He's a very good guitarist and handles his guitar very well. He used to "sway" and jump around a lot, but now he stands quite still. He does go mad when the occasion calls for it. He's also got a lovely voice!
Hisashi and Takuro are both guitar players, but guitar solos usually go to Hisashi +or they share, like in More Than Love+. Sometimes, though, Takuro takes up guitar solos like in Winter, Again and the opening tune for ACID HEAD. Sadly, I notice in lives, Takuro's guitar gets drowned out by Hisashi's much louder one. Maybe Hisashi's has to be louder because he takes up most of the solos, but when Takuro plays his, it's almost inaudible.
Just to finish off, Toshi is GLAY's drummer and Shigeo Komori is GLAY's keyboardist. They have made GLAY's songs sound super special as well, so applause goes to them!
I feel bad for not doing a biography, but I've got a splitting headache now. GLAY is a band that produce quality music, for the love of music and for the sake of producing music. It doesn't matter if they're "rock" or "pop" because, honestly, I don't give a damn at all. GLAY will remain in the hearts of those whom they touched.
