PURE SOUL is one of GLAY's ultimate album. Filled with great rock riffs and slow, lilting melodies.
YOU MAY DREAM (****) = This is an intro. This is a REAL intro. I love the way the song just builds up and the suspense is worth waiting for. The guitar solo is worth a mention here. Oh, GOD! This is one of the best guitars solo ever known to man! Plus, Teru adds to its' essence by singing "Whoa oh ooh!" A definite must-listen.
Biri biri crashmen (****) = WAAAH! SUGOI! I love the weird electronic opening. I think Jiro's a real good composer. It lets him take the limelight for a while. This song is punk-rock, I think. Love it when he goes "Motto motto!". Fast-paced and adrenaline pumping.
MAY FAIR (****) = UNLIKE some people, I found this song really nice to listen to. Real relaxing and reminds me of fun-fairs with cotton candy, ice cream...Er-hem! I agree with Kougaiji. The end is lovely, and Teru goes "whoa oh oh yeah...". +Plus the lalala bit+.
SOUL LOVE (****) = I love the video! But more about that in the Video section. It's a song about colours and well, summer. Really like the guitar opening. Catchy and fun. Another likable GLAY song.
Deatta Shimatta Futari(***1/2) = It's got a great guitar opening and a really great guitar solo performed by Hisashi I suspect. +kinda Latino, don'tcha think?+ and lovely verses. It's just not my kind of song and I can't give it full marks. Sumimasen!
PURE SOUL(****) = Oh, oh! A classic GLAY ballad. I Looove to sing along to this in the car, and try to match Teru in being passionate. +I fail miserably every time!+. It's got a great piano opening and ahhh, it's just so...perfect? However, I prefer HOWEVER to this.
Yuuwaku(****) = +To Kougaiji : I like it better with two us+. Anyway, this is one damn great rock song! This is the first GLAY rock song I heard and fell in love with it to the crazy drum opening until the end. It's got a great guitar solo and if you listen carefully enough, Jiro's bass is real cool during the verses. Full points for this extremely popular song! +and it deserves it!+
COME ONE!(***1/2) = Oh yeah! I love this song because it's fast, crazy and manic! Sometimes I feel like letting go when I hear this nutty song. I especially anticipate the bit where he goes "Taxi DRIVER! Aitsu wa DIVER!" Ooh yeah!
FRIED CHICKEN & BEER(***1/2) = A club song. Sounds like one. Ever watched "The Mask" with Jim Carrey? Yeah, this sounds pretty similar to the one Cameron Diaz was dancing to. It's a real funky song and it's really cute when Teru makes his voice super high-pitched and then goes to awfully rough and husky! The title is weird though. Did they think of this song while they were hungry?
San Nengo(****) = At the moment, this song is the song I choose to listen to. I really like this song and like Kougaiji said it's "psychadelic". It's great to see Teru soooo emotional and caught up in the music. Teru's performance here is totally wonderful. Plus, this is one of my favourite songs in the album. :)
I'm In Love(****) = Ever since they produced this song, they always end their concerts with it. I love to sing along with "I'm just in Love!" and "WE WILL ROCK YOU WORDS FROM HEAVEN". It's just quite simple and brings back memories. A great ending to the PURE SOUL album.
