SPEED POP is GLAY's second album, but first official one. This album has amazing, well-written songs and really weird amateurish ones as well.
SPPED POP (**) = Huh? This intro is so weird. 'Nuff said.
HAPPY SWING (****) = AUGH! This is one totally great song. This kind of song just makes you wanna dance and sing to it. It really picks me up and I always bob my head during the "Dancin' in illusion" bit.
Kanojo no "modern" (****) = Now this is a real rock song! I love the guitar solo, it's as if they're having a race of some sort. It's very fast, with catchy drums. Teru's vocal performance is quite amazing here. No matter what Kougaiji says, this song is way cool!
Zutto Futaride...(****) = Oh dear! I'm starting to get teary-eyed! This is such a sweet, romantic wedding song. I can imagine someone getting married when I hear this beautiful song. Teru is once again, amazing here. +excuse me while I blubber+.
LOVE SLAVE(**) = After a great ballad, we have THIS. Wha-". This just leaves me speechless. It's just so corny and no matter what Kougaiji says, I refuse to like this song! I can't! It's just so weird.
REGRET (****) = I absolutely cannot comprehend the reason why Kougaiji did not give this four stars. This song is just so likable and carefree. The guitar solo is absolutely wonderful and the tune is so warming! This song is like an old friend ready to cheer you up. But, like the title, it has a pinch of sadness. A beautiful song, and one of my favourites in this album.
INNOCENCE (***) = It's got a nice tune and I like the chorus where he goes "tooku tooku e...meguru made...". It's just quite long and drags a little. It's one of those ballads that never really made it. Look for the REAL classics like "HOWEVER".
FREEZE MY LOVE (***1/2) = Ai wo korosete...this has a great opening but the ending is quite weird. I like the verses a lot, though. An enjoyable rock song.
Manatsu no Tobira (****) = Whoa oh oh! Whoa oh oh! Whoa oh oh oh! Open the new gate, and forget the sad days! Love this song. It's really well done and I like the video. So there! +sticks tongue out at Kougaiji & Cologne (my one-chan)+. This one is a great rock song, and I prefer this to Kanojo. Real catchy, and liked it immediately when they performed it during the GLOBAL COMMUNICATION EXPO'2000.
LIFE~tooi sora no shita de~ (***1/2) = The beginning starts of really well, but unlike Kougaiji, I'm afraid i can't give this full marks. This isn't really my type of song, and I cringe when he goes ,"Cross my LUB and your LUB". I really love the guitar solo though. +hums the tune+.
JUNK ART (***) = HEART BEAT! SPEED=LOW!! DRUG KING! WOMAN IN THE MIRROR! Totally cool opening, and wham! Heads straight down after that. It's not as bad as LOVE SLAVE in my opinion, but why on earth did they waste that great opening?
RAIN (****) = Very X Japan. Teru goes all out here, and this is ONE LONG SONG. It's a really nice ballad and tons of girls +stereotype+ love this song. HELL! My MOM likes this song. SHe always turns the volume up when she hears it. Shows GLAY appeal to the old, ne? *wink*. Anyway, this deserves to be preserved in the GLAY Hall of Fame, as a classic song.
