The Pilot episode much like the Unaired pilot in many ways. We are introduced to all the main characters in this episode, Buffy, Angel, Willow, Xander, Giles, Cordelia and The Master. The episode begins with Darla (Julie Benz) taking a boy into Sunnydale High and killing him vampire style, setting the scene for the entire series. Buffy moves to Sunnydale with her mother after her parents separation and because of Buffys expulsion from her previous high school all eyes are on her to do a good job. Unfortunately for Buffy the extreme dead guy that turns up in a gym locker brings her full swing back into her slaying duties which she reluctantly takes on. If Only She knew what her destiny had in store for her.
The Harvest
This Episode is part two of 'Welcome To The Hellmouth'. Buffy was left in a tricky situation when Luke traps her in a tomb and seems ready to bite her but as it always goes in this season of Buffy, nothing is gonna keep our heroine down. As Buffy and the Scooby gang learn more about 'The Harvest' they know that they definately do not want it to happen and the warnings that The Master shall rise once the vessel has completed his task are not to be ignored. So Buffy takes to the Bronze and stakes some vampires, thwarting The Masters plans and leaving everyone to sleep safely tonight... well at least until tomorrow night.
Witch
Cheerleading tryouts come and go rather swiftly at Sunnydale high but this years were somthing to be concerned about. Someone desperately wants to get onto that team and they are resorting to witchcraft to achieve their goal. Buffy must find out who it is before things really do get out of hand, a girl combusts during a routine, Cordelia goes blind and Buffy comes down with a strange illness which will attack the nervous system until she is dead. Giles takes on the role of witch hunter after their suspicions become confirmed. Amy Madson is the culprit or is she? After a little interigation of Amy's mother they discover that Amy is actually trapped in her mothers body. So hellbent on restoring her former glory as 'Catherine The Great' Amy's mum switches bodies with her daughter so she can fulfil this dream but things don't go to plan and Buffy once again saves the day with Amy and Giles' help.
Teacher's Pet
Everyone has their favourite teacher but when Buffy finally decides she likes one, they mysteriously disappear and a substitute moves in on her turf. The boys love this new teacher and Buffys instincts/paranoia begin to kick in when boys volunteer to stay after school to help make egg sacks for the class. Buffys suspicions become heightened when the body of the missing teacher shows up in the freezer of the cafeteria. Buffy's on a roll but if only she could prove it but with a Freddy Krueger wannabe vamp on the lose she has to deal with both and it's proving difficult but when Xander goes to the substitutes house, Buffy can't leave anything to chance and high tails it over there but she doesn't find the substitute only the real and older substitute, so Buffy enlists the help of the Freddy Krueger wannabe to find the she-bitch who turns out to be a rather large preying mantis, she's been using the male of the human species to fertalise her eggs and when that deed has been acomplished she bites off their head and Buffy has never been one for overgrown bugs.
Never Kill A Boy On The First Date
Buffy dabbles in the dateing game since her one true crush in Sunnydale is a little too mysterious for her liking at the moment. So what better oppertunity arrives then a handsome young guy by the name of Owen, unfortunately the dating experience on the hellmouth isn't as straight forward as it should be. Owen tags along on one of Buffys slaying escapades and gets a little ruffed up by the supposed 'Annointed One' and Buffy gets mightily pissed off when she thinks Owen has been killed.
The Pack
Field trip, the greatest time in the school year calander. No work to do and on a bright and sunny day, what could possibly go wrong for Buffy and her friends? Plenty. Xander does the heroic thing and saves a nerd from a group of bullies but he pays the consequences. A passing glance at a hyena in an off-limits hyena pit leaves Xander and the group of bullies possessed by it's spirit. Buffy goes to Giles for help about Xanders increasing attitude change but Giles puts it down to a teenage phase. But Buffy knows this is more than a phase, after all he scared the pig (Sunnydale High Schools Football Mascot). Giles finally believes Buffy and traces the change back to the zoo but when they lead the pack back to the zoo, the zoo keeper reveals his real plan to transfer the hyena spirit into himself.
Angel
The Master and The Anointed One decide to call in 'The Three', a troup of 3 particularly nasty vampires to eliminate Buffy. The Master begins to get nostalgic as Darla remember Angel, the mysterious man Buffy has a crush on. Unfortunately for Buffy Angel turns out to be a vampire, and Darla frames angel. Giles begins to research Angels sordid past, bringing up a gruesome history of blood shed. But things soon take a turn for the better as Angel saves Buffy and kills Darla.
I, Robot... You, Jane
Giles' dislike of computers causes him to make a few mistakes in the stock taking of his books. Jenny Calander takes charge of the operation with a group of computer geeks to help her. Willow scans a book into the computer but as she does the text vanishes, thus freeing a demon onto the school network and the internet. Giles realizes what has happened after Jenny critisizes his books. The Demons name is Moloch and he developes a lust for the one who freed him (Willow). Willow soon begins to fall in love for a sweet guy named Malcolm, over the Internet. Buffy soon begins to worry for Willow, as she has never seen Malcolm and seems to be falling head first into a relationship. Buffy begins to investigate and soon discovers a foe she has never met before, a metallic shell protects him from all attacks (The computer geeks built him a body) and Buffy knows she can't defeat him using just plain brutal stregnth to defeat Moloch.
The Puppet Show
The school talent show comes but once a year and when a ballet dancers body turns up, minus one vital organ, Buffy begins to suspect. Giles suspects a student to be the murderous villain as a vampire or a demon would not use a butchers knife to do it's handy work. As things develope all sources point to the ventrilaquist, after all puppets do give Buffy the 'wiggins'. But all isn't as simple as first was thought, the dummy is out to kill a demon who harvests organs to stay alive, Buffy teams up with the dummy (After a near death experience where the dummy almost gets the better of Buffy) to slay this final demon (of seven... the dummy killed the other six). Unfortunately for Buffy her prowling about gets her landed in the talent show and a big fight ensues with the demon before the talent show starts, making a very interesting opening scene for talent show night.
Nightmares
The fears of the Sunnydale students are coming to life and it's not that much fun for Buffy and her friends. Willow has to perform soprano infront of and audience, Xander gets chased by a demonic clown, Cordelia has a bad hair day and Giles forgets how to read, which makes his job as librarian harder to accomplish, especially when much needed research into this bizzare experience is warrented. These living nightmares are traced to a boy named Billy, A little leaguer, who's currently in a coma. But Buffy is seeing him before the living nightmares occur. Unfortunately Buffy's nightmares come to pass and the Master defeats her, causing her to become a vampire... this only gives Buffy and her friends a limited amount of time to get to the bottom of why Billy is creating these living nightmares, before sunrise...
Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight
Ignorance can be bliss, yet it can also spell disaster for Cordelia and her snobbish friends. If you are the girl/boy who's always ignored by students and teachers alike, this is the episode for you. Marcy Ross was that very girl, always looking to be popular but in the end, ultimately forgotten. Now Marcy Ross has discovered a new way to use her 'curse' of invisibility and that's to seek and commit revenge on those who ignored her. Cordelia is her main target for her revenge and as Buffy begins to help Cordelia she soon falls foul to Marcys plot aswell. Cordelia soon finds out who Buffy is in this episode and their relationship becomes a little less hostile, only a little though.
Prophecy Girl
The end of season finale. Giles finds a prophecy that Buffy will die on prom night, but she will die at the hands of The Master. As she returns to the library after a hard nights slaying, Buffy over hears Giles telling Angel of this prophecy, at which point she refuses to believe it. All signs point to the prophecy coming true as the annointed one leads Buffy to the Masters lair. Buffy and the Master battle and the Master wins, but before he savours his victory, the Master tells Buffy that if she hadn't come down to destroy him then the prophecy would not have come true. Only Xander comes and revives Buffy. Hence leading to a big bad fight between good and evil, with the Hellmouth open and ready to chow down on Giles, Cordy, Willow and Jenny.
