From 49-103 to the top of the world!
Be Goods thunder way to their first C12 title

    Championship Series MVP
    Andy Ashby
Despite trailing 3 games to 2 and having to play the final games of the Henderson Cup Finals on enemy turf, Johnny Fenton did not panic. A combination of monster offense and clutch pitching helped the Johnny Be Goods outscore the Co Operators in Games 6 & 7 by an 18-3 margin to capture their first C12 championship. The title caps the most dramatic turnaround in league history for a club that won a record-low 49 games in 1999.

Picking out an MVP is not so simple a task. Run producers included Dave Nilsson (.455-3-8), Ellis Burks (.261-2-9) and Bernard Gilkey (whose 3rd inning, 3-run homer blew the deciding game wide open), while slugger John Jaha added 2 homers and 6 RBIs to raise his post season totals to 9 and 18, respectively. However, all eyes were on pitcher Andy Ashby, who Johnny Fenton tabbed as his Game 7 starter over ace Mike Hampton. The lefthanded Hampton - acquired last January for 6 players, winner of 19 regular season games and another 3 in the playoffs - took a seat in favor of righty Ashby, who responded with a complete game, 3-hitter. For his 2 wins and 2.14 ERA in the Finals, Andy Ashby gets the Most Valuable Player nod.
