Restaurants & Bar
The Cafe: The Cafe
which overlooks a man-made waterfall and a cool-blue swimming pool,
offers Western and Asian cuisines and a choice of seating on two
different levels, either to see the green vistas of palms and floral
shrubs stretching upto the sea shore or to sit in quietude to enjoy a
sumptuous breakfast or dinner. At eventide, The Cafe is a haven of
gentle light with candles gleaming on every table. The Chinese
delicacies here are renowned among gourmets everywhere.
The River Side: The experience of eating at The Leela Palace, Goa
is truly complete only when one has dined at the Riverside Restaurant
which nestles almost on a terrace overhanging the smooth flowing waters
of the sal river. Here, the dreamy use of coloured glass accessories,
the decor and the ambience, create just the
right mood for enjoying a superbly cooked Italian meal, reminiscent of
the aromas of the exciting streets of the cities and towns of Italy and
their noisy, bustling eateries. A meal on the terrace, with fishing
boats gliding smoothly down the river and the lights twinkling
beyond on the other shore, is truly a memorable experience.
Jamavar: Jamavar continues the centuries-old saga of elegance and
drama that formed the core elements of the distinctive cooking styles
and dining rituals of India's ancient nobility. Guests can experience
Princely Dining with a culinary fare that spans the entire spectrum of
Indian cuisine, fringed with modern and innovative creations. ' The
refined ambience of the restaurant is enhanced by the use of beautiful,
hand-carved wooden screens, decorative Jamavar shawls and lavish table
settings. To welcome guests, the hostess greets them with a traditional
Namaste setting the tone for warm Indian-style hospitality, and upon
leaving the restaurant ladies receive a gajra (floral necklace). A
special feature of Jamavar is its display tandoor where guests can watch
chefs skillfully preparing outstanding
Indian breads and tandoori items. Tasting thalis present guests
with the opportunity to explore the varied flavours and textures of
Indian cuisine prepared using only the finest ingredients accentuated
with fresh herbs and spices.
Susegado: As the sun goes down on Mobor Beach in a glorious burst
of colour that paints the Goan sky, a band begins to serenade guests,
setting the scene for an evening beach barbeque with an Indian twist.
The drama and magic of the night is enhanced with flaming torches or
mashals that form a boundary around the barbeque area, heightening the
sense of excitement and anticipation as the evening's activities
commence. Guests are able to catch glimpses of local fishermen setting
off from the shore for a night of deep sea fishing, while enjoying the
festive atmosphere created by the exclusive beach settings with its
gently swaying palms. Fresh seafood specialties, expertly prepared and
cooked in a traditional Tandoor oven evoke the typical flavours of Goa,
as the entertainment continues with breathtaking performances that
display the centuries-old art of limbo-dancing and fire-eating. As the
evening progresses, the strains of live music dance lure guests onto the
dance floor where revellers move to the pulsating rhythm of the band.
