Pasto (Colombia)

The city where I live in isn't quite big and doesn't have many interesting things to offer. It is, however, a very peaceful place where buildings and urban areas contrast with the surrounding mountains. Although its weather isn't so good since temperatures roughly range from a low of 6C at night to a still low of 14C during the day. Pasto has become a suitable city to live in for those who don't find high temperatures very pleasant.

Despite the fact Pasto is a small city with a small downtown area, it has the same problems major cities have. Traffic, for example, moves slowly all day long at the downtown area, and people are always stuck in the streets at rush hour. Regardless of the kind of transportation you use, you can be suddenly caught in a traffic jam. Nevertheless, an advantage of living in such small place is that you can go wherever you want on foot and wander downtown in just a couple of hours.

On the other hand, the cost of living in my city has been rated very concerning local taxes, food prices and housing.

Besides, there aren't enough job opportunities and the unemployment rate has utterly increased for the last two years. Talking about the urban area outlooks, I'm afraid it doesn't show the best of the city. The streets are dirty and there's litter everywhere. Some parks are unattended and overgrown and there are a lot of stray dogs wandering around. To make things worse, there are many old buildings which have been neglected and are about to fall down.

Just the same, Pasto also reckons on certain cultural and traditional locations, which grab both the locals and visitors attention, and the best thing about living here is that you can find and visit different wonderful natural places just some miles away every time you get tired of hasty city life!
