Once upon a time, this guy Russell was born in Houston. He started playing guitar when he was 11, and began making a few attempts to sing at about 15, though it wasn't until he was almost 18 that he would admit it. He's picked up influence from all kinds of music.

Some of his favorites are Blue October, U2, Counting Crows, Bob Schneider, and The Verve, but he listens to everything from bluegrass to blues to hard rock to electronica, and any other style he's in the mood for. He hadn't gotten much band experience until he was 17 and played with a guitar trio, The JARs. Eventually he found his way to playing with John Lammers and started up what eventually became Goby Blue. Since then he has become very proud of their music and how they've come along in the short time they've been together.
