Ryoko
Ryoko was created in a lab by her mother/creater, Washu. She comes about in the very first episode of Tenchi Muyo, when Tenchi opens the seal that has held her for over 1,000 years. She was put there by Yosho, who is both Tenchi's grandfather, and Ayeka's 1/2 brother. She attacks Tenchi as soon as she sees him, wanting to get revenge on his ancestor. Tenchi uses the sword he stole from the cave to cut off her hand, and Ryoko dissapears, only to be found by our young hero later--in his own bed!
Ryoko's energy source comes from the three gems on Tenchi's sword, which Yosho stole from her before he sealed her away. For about half of the time she spends at the Masaki residence, the demon is trying to steal them back. At the time being, she can fly, use her beam sword and blast power balls, and teleport from place to place. She's even got a tail!
Ryoko's got a pet cabit named Ryo-Oh-Ki, who also doubles as her space ship. The cabbit takes to Sasami immidiatly, and, just to be honest, most of the gang would be lost without the little cat/rabbit.
Ryoko knew Tenchi from long ago. She used to sit above the entrance to the cave where she was trapped, watching her love grow up. She saw everything he did--fishing, camping, and dragonfly catching to crying over his grandmother's death. Actually, I think she's always loved him...
Other than Tenchi, Washu is really the only person to get the better of Ryoko with her feelings (Unless you count Sasami, who none of them can hate). Since Washu created Ryoko, that gives her a headstart. The two connect telepathically, but that doesn't mean they always get along--and they don't. In fact, Washu is one of the main people Ryoko can get really mad at, and I won't say she doesn't deserve it most of the time.
This demon has a sense of style that is all her own. Quite like Urd from Aa! Megami-sama (Oh My Goddess!), she usually has a theme to her outfits. One thing's for sure--they show more than they cover.
Ayeka and Ryoko have a very strong rivalry, given that they're both fighting for Tenchi's attention. For one, Ryoko can't stand the princess--but who could? The two's fighting causes unbelieveable trouble for Tenchi and the gang; both women are kidnapped once. But heck, how would that make Tenchi feel if one of them died? Ryoko has good intentions behind her doings...most of the time.
