Fishing in the Sandhills is usually pretty good, however, this area of Nebraska is basically a desert. There are what are called sandpit lakes in this region. They were really popular during the 40's and 50's before there were many of the flood control/irrigation lakes built. After they were they were basically forgotten, but they still offer great fishing.
They started out as just holes in the Sand, but eventually they were filled in with water. Now Trees have grown up around them. The Fisherman in the photo has been fishing in these pits since the 50's. Other than those your only basic option is to fish in the Platte River where it winds through. As in most of Nebraska farm ponds are also an option. Most of these are polluted by cattle though.
