History

Donald Ronald Douglas has been a lawyer for a number of years, getting his degree from Las Vegas. Evidence suggests he may have been born there or lived there in the past. He dated Roz Doyle for 6 months before 1997, but they broke up after he wanted a family and she didn't. In 1999 Roz introduced him to Niles, who was going through his divorce to Maris, and Donny impressed Niles so much that he became Niles' lawyer and soon got a settlement from Maris. This led to Donny meeting Daphne Moon. They started going out and later that year he proposed to her. She had some doubts before but accepted, much to Niles' dismay.

Donny spent the millennium with Daphne in San Francisco. But Daphne was having second thoughts about her wedding, as she discovered Niles' feelings for her and was developing feelings for him as well. On her wedding day she left Donny at the altar for Niles. Donny was so distressed by this that he sued her for emotional distress and breach of contract, and sued Frasier when he found out his involvement in getting Niles and Daphne together. He dropped the lawsuits when he fell in love with new girlfriend Nancy.

Donny and Nancy married in 2000 but the marriage didn't last, possibly as Donny was marrying on the rebound. They divorced and he got engaged to Bridget, but she left him after he said she would never replace Daphne on Daphne's wedding to Niles in 2002.

Personality

Before being dumped at the altar, Donny was cheerful, kind and a very good lawyer, albeit a strange one. He often talks to clients or other lawyers whilst getting changed from the gym! He was very much a romantic person, treating Roz and then Daphne to walks in the park, holidays, jewellery etc and being a true gentleman to them.

He changed after Daphne jilted him, becoming very bitter and angry at her and Frasier. He tried suing her as revenge, but dropped it after meeting Nancy. His new personality stayed though, and years later he was still bitter at Daphne for leaving him. Donny may take a while yet to recover.

Donny Douglas is played by Saul Rubinek. He first appeared in Ep 134 "To Tell The Truth".
