Plot: Roz has moved in with Frasier for a while - her new apartment isn't ready yet and she's already sold her old one - and she's in a dilemma. Steve and Paula Garrett - Rick's parents - want to meet her to see what their grandchild's mother is like. Roz doesn't feel comfortable with the idea but Frasier thinks it would be a good idea.
When Steve and Paula arrive, everybody notices they've got big noses. Really big noses. This amuses Niles, Daphne and Martin who burst into fits of laughter when the Garretts aren't looking. Frasier is trying to control himself whilst still acting serious, and Roz is mortified - what if her baby has a big nose too? Can Frasier convince her it doesn't really matter about the noses, and keep his family from laughing all the time?
Meanwhile Frasier has bought Daphne some fake earrings, but she thinks they're real and adores them. It also turns out to be her 5th anniversary working for the Cranes and she thinks they were a present for this reason. Frasier has to somehow tell her the truth.....
Subtitles: Where's A Grindstone When You Need One?; Let's Take A Little Breather.
It's Maris!!!.....Barking Mad: Niles needs Frasier to go with him to a dog show because Maris and her boyfriend will be there. Upon hearing this, Frasier wonders what class Maris is being entered in.
Roz loves..... Marco, who wants to see her on Saturday, and her art teacher, whom she posed nude for (she needed the credits.....)
Trivia: Mentions of
Rick, the baby's father, and of Duke - he and Martin went to San Francisco for a weekend to see places they saw when they were on leave back in 1952. The actors who play the Garretts are apparently a couple in real life. And we learn some things about Roz - when she was 9 she had her "ears fixed" and also had a lazy eye as a kid.Read the script of this episode at
