Nurturing Slaves
The girls who seek Masters through Gorean Internet interaction imagine they are going to receive some kind of nurturing. From their many posts it is apparent that they do not perceive that they may be tossed aside. They obviously have many expectations of their “slavery”. On one of the most famous Gorean websites, (the same one where a learned Lifestyler brags of his skill with a scimitar, and yet would have us believe he does not role play), there are a few heart rending stories of how vulnerable slaves have lost out to unscrupulous Masters. The slaves tell how the Master concerned duped them out of money, and used their credit details, and how his promise of collaring them turned out to be lies as he already had a wife who was collared to him and how actually it turns out he is a drug addict, who could easily have infected her with some disease and how he broke all promises and was in fact also doing the same with other slaves at the same time and so on and so forth. Obviously, I think that such behaviour is despicable and that the men concerned are sick individuals who need help and pity. However, their behaviour most definitely must be called Gorean, if you truly take what is written within the books as a philosophy for a Lifestyle. The Internet Gorean elders have taken a stand against this sort of predator, saying loudly that the men concerned are not Gorean, and they even allow the slaves to name them and discredit them.
Of course if one was taking the philosophy as written in the books, it is they, with their, (correct in my opinion), earthly contempt of such behaviour who in reality would be declared ungorean. No Gorean man would allow a slave to badmouth a man, who after all was only duping a stupid slave girl who is of no value, and if she wishes to call herself Gorean what is she doing with funds to be duped out of in the first place? No Gorean slave girl can ever own anything, let alone have it considered a bad thing if a man should take it from her. A Gorean man would be considered greatly remiss if he allowed her to keep her funds and she would probably be killed for daring to be so presumptuous. It is painfully clear that these men who call themselves Gorean really do need to look at what it is they are saying. They conveniently ignore all these painful truths.
Having hopes of being loved and nurtured by a strict and loving Master is utterly ungorean, and any Gorean slave girl would soon learn that she is nothing, and will be only what her Owner wishes her to be, or she will be disposed of. Hopefully sold, but just as likely maimed or killed. All this would not matter a great deal if it was just left within the pages of fiction. A lot of the very best fiction has violence and injustice as a backdrop. However, you do not usually get people saying that they follow the dictates of fiction as a basis of a lifestyle. Fiction, that if taken truly as a lifestyle philosophy would be so dangerous and dreadful it does not bear thinking about. To do them justice, it seems a few Goreans do admit that their desires are more in tune with the writings in the books. Some Goreans have admitted that the purpose of most Goreans slaves would be to hoe the suls, and do the laundry, rather than be the perfumed beloved of some great Master. The board where the most famous of these Lifestylers most frequently post has discussed many notions somewhat out of kilter to that which is considered decent and honourable to Western ideals.
