Atomizer began as a raw and blasting misanthropic old school black/thrash band from Melbourne but their style has gradually developed over time to incorporate a degree of melody and dynamics. The band's first album was issued as a limited edition of 666 copies on French label End All Life before its release locally. Late in 2000, Atomizer played at Metal for the Brain and toured New Zealand. A second album was released in early 2002, after which guitarist Justin Allen was replaced by Jason Saunders. Atomizer toured New Zealand once more in 2002 and after the addition of Jay Young on guitar, played in Melbourne with Destruction. In early 2003 Atomizer toured nationally with Pungent Stench. Rick Withoos (ex-Earth) and Brent Hodgkins joined Atomizer on guitar in October 2003, but Withoos' stay was short and by May 2004 he had been replaced by former Psi.Kore and Infernal Method guitarist Lilley. Atomizer was to tour Europe and Japan in late 2004 but the tour was blown out at the last minute and Lilley has since left the band.
