Gorgân has good air, rail and road access to most larger cities in Iran. Entering or leaving by land between Iran and Turkmenistan is open to both Iranian and foregien travelers.
Flying within Iran is an unexpensive option. Trains are much cheaper, but it’s always quicker to go by bus, especially because there’s a large number of private companies operating express services between the major cities and regions.

There are two different minibus terminals and one Main Bus Terminal (Intercity buses) in Gorgân.

The Main Bus Terminal and one of the Minibus Termials (to regional destinations west and north of Gorgân) are situated at the Engelab (Gâz) square . Opening hours 06:00-24:00

There is few daily trains traffic between Gorgân and Tehrân everyday. There  is even local train which connect Gorgân to several major towns in Golestân and Mâzanderân provinces.

Shared taxis are available between provincial towns. Oftenly shared taxis  leave from, or just outside, the relevant bus terminal. It is not possible to pre-book a seat in a shared taxi, and they leave when they are full which  happens quickly and reasonably often. The price of a shared taxi  unlike a  "private taxi" is not open to negotiation.

Hireing a car with driver is an easy and cheap way for getting around. When you hire a private car, you are allowed to stop and take a breake or photos, leave when you want to, make detours to visit places along the way. The price of a private car is negotiable.
