James comes from a wealthy southern family, where he was betrothed to a girl named Jessibelle, but he ran away stating that he liked his freedom when Jessibelle became overbearing.
He also attended Pokemon Tech, where he met Jessie, his future partner in Team Rocket. Together they made the worst grades in the history of the school, and dropped out. He later joined a bicycle gang, where he was known as "Little Jim" because he never took off his training wheels.
Eventually, he joined Team Rocket, and was assigned to capture Ash's Pikachu with Jessie. He has devised many clever plans, but all of them have failed thus far.
James is very sensitive, and carries a rose as a symbol of his romantic soul. He is quite timid around Jessie and prefers to let her have her way, except when it comes to catching Pikachu.
James is very smart. When faced with a challenge, he will pause and think of a way to overcome the obstacle.However, he will give up after a few tries, but will continue if encouraged.
James is a very lonely person, and doesn't feel like people understand him. This is why he needs someone in his life with a similar upbringing and interests.I think he needs to talk out his troubles with someone who is familiar with his problems.
