Introducing....

....emily deandra, the first of the six-and-a-half-year-old twin girls to come forward. Her
first name was told to us by Aurora13, and emily herself chose her middle name. She kept
repeating to us, "deandra, deandra, deandra...." We thought she was referring to
her twin's name, but it didn't seem right. Later, we realized that the twins aren't as close
to each other as we first thought, and that the name belonged to emily herself.
Since she made her way to the house, emily has been sharing a room with Aurora13, but she's
recently informed us that she wants her own room, and that it's mint green. :-) We've done
some rearranging of our inside house to make rooms available to both twins, but we'll write
about that later. emily will move into her room after Aurora13 wakes up from her nap.
emily's twin is still in the cabin with Aurora17.
So we'd like everyone to welcome emily -- no hugs please, but blue flowers and other safe
things are okay. emily will probably not post, but she's eager to join the Silent Kids and
function as a regular part of our group.
Thanks,
MD
Update/info on twin
situation....caution

Well, emily's twin is finally out of the isolated cabin and in the house. I/Laura got sick of
all the agita the stalemate was causing (power play between Aurora17 and the rest of us), and
went down to the cabin to settle things.
The girl kept opening the cabin door, peeking out, and slamming it shut. I knew that rose,
Nona, Twelve and others were nearby if I should need them, but I wanted to handle this myself
as much as possible.
Then she ran out of the cabin and over to me. I saw Aurora17 standing in the doorway of the
cabin, looking resigned that she'd lost the battle, but not defeated enough to have lost the
war. She's stubborn. I wonder where she gets it? :-Þ
The girl's behavior vaccillated sharply, from clinging to physically att*cking. At one point
Twelve gave her an ultimatim that I can't repeat here, but it did the trick. We were able to
get the girl into the house through the basement entrance (so as to keep her away from
everyone else) and into the Quiet Room.
Backtracking a little....what convinced me to go to the cabin in the first
place was that, seemingly out of the blue, I heard emily say, "Her name is
heidi." This wasn't a red herring like the other names that she and
Aurora13 had thrown at us. I knew this was the truth.
And no offense to anyone, but I really don't like the name heidi. To me it seems like someone
who shouldn't be taken seriously. Kind of ironic, I told our T, that I had difficulty
accepting the name of a kid who was also difficult.
Anyway, back to the Quiet Room. We arranged to have people watch heidi in shifts. Our T
suggested we also have stuffies in there, but was heidi ready for them? We envisioned a huge
tiger stuffy, to match heidi's personality.
Then one of the bigs suggested it would be good to have a 3d stuffy placed strategically in
our bedroom as a sign of acceptance. We have a collection of about 90 Beanie Babies, and we'd
used a unicorn Beanie when Nona was first out. So we found a tiger Beanie to use for
heidi.
And what bout a middle name? It's our custom to have them where possible. Someone inside
suggested catherine, since the first three letters would continue the tiger theme.
So there we have it.....heidi catherine. Despite the thread on ML, she almost certainly won't
post. For the time being, we're just going to watch over her and see what we can do to help
her.
