emily's page

emily is six and a half. Her twin sister is heidi. Her older sisters are

Aurora17, Aurora13, 11-year-old Nona, and eight-year-old Deidra.

emily does not talk. She first showed us how brave she is when she decided to join us in November 2002.

One thing that helps emily feel safe is holding her mouse stuffy, Wizard, who is about the size of a Beanie Baby. Wizard got this name from a picture emily saw in a catalog of a mouse figurine. This mouse was dressed as a wizard. emily keeps the picture to remind her that the mouse is important and strong, and so is she.

emily and heidi look almost identical, but emily's hair color is a little lighter. Spending time with Christine helps emily to feel good about being a quieter twin, and to know that we love her just the way she is.
