1042. Ensign John PIERCE * ^{(262) (263)(264)} was born on 23 Nov 1644 in Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA. He died on 25 Mar 1720 in Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA. John was chosen on 18 August 1706 to succeed his deceased father-in-law, Maj. James Convers (Converse), as representative of Woburn in the General Court, for the years 1707-1718. His will was dated 26 April 1716 and bequeathed a legacy to the children of his daughter, Deborah Wilson, who had died in 1703.

Researchers Note: There is some controversy between recordings of Pierce Genealogies and Samuel Sewall's "History of Woburn", concerning the ancestry of Ensign John Pierce. Pierce genealogies indicate John was born 7 May 1643, son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Sewall shows John was born 23 Nov 1644, the probable son of John and (no mother listed), who was taxed in Woburn 1645/46. Both sources indicate John married Deborah Convers on 1 July 1663. Woburn vital records show a John born to Thomas, 7 Mar 1643, and one born to John, 23 Nov 1644. Which one is the father of Ensign John Pierce is subject to further research. However, this researcher has chosen Thomas as the father and the ancestry shown is accordingly.

John (as the father), b.abt.1620 in England, m.abt.1642 (age 22) to Unknown, d.1705/6 in Woburn (age 85). Children were: John (shown); Joseph, b.12 Sep 1646; Thomas, b.3 May 1649, all in Woburn. He was married to Deborah CONVERS * on 1 Jul 1663 in Woburn, Middlesex Co., MA.
