She was a member of the Sisters of Mercy known as Sister Mary Florence. She was graduated from St. Patrick's high school, Cedar Rapids, in 1915 and entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Mercy in Davenport in 1928.

Geraldine (also known as Sister Mary Florence) kept track of a lot of history and descendents of the Lawler and Reed families.
